Re: Wiring loom protection

You might have a problem. The conduit is installed as the loom is being assembled. I don't know how the conduit can be installed after the fact. There might be a way but I don't know of it. I've had the same problem.

Re: TC Front End Improvements-Handling

Stephen, after reading all of the posts, I'm pretty much sure that my steering box is good. I took great pains to assemble it correctly and even took steel dye to check the contact surfaces on the worm as the peg moved in the worm. I assembled the box with the high point correctly. End play on the c...

Re: carb balancing

Been doing SU's for 55 years. Use the Uni-syn. It will always work if there are no leaks around the shafts. In a pinch put in your hearings aids and use a hose to synch them!

Re: TC Front End Improvements-Handling

Stephen, I increased the toe in from 1/4 to 3/8" this morning and took it for a drive. It seemed to make a difference that was noticeable. I'm going to increase it to 1/2'" and try that. Please bear in mind that I only have 58 miles on the car since a total 1,800 hour rebuild and other things could ...

Re: TC Front End Improvements-Handling

Duncan, Yup, I had to replace that one and another rather than just rotate them. Wanted to eliminate any variables. The springs were good and the seats for the balls were fine on all of the joints. I set the steering up for the center of the tight spot with just a little tightness and as my friend w...

Re: TC Front End Improvements-Handling

Well, I must have done something right when I rebuilt the steering box. My friend who has a TC and has been driving a lot of different TC's for 30 years test drove mine today and claimed it was the best steering TC he had driven. I was pleased to hear his comments but I'd still like it better. I thi...

Re: TC Front End Improvements-Handling

Steve, I just got Millie (TC 7801)on the road and per my friends warnings, the steering is not great with a lot of wandering. I rebuilt the gear box and installed a Tompkns kit. The parts appear to be proper with a newish peg and a great worm. All clearances are correct, the toe in is at about 3/16 ...

Okay. I'll thought it might hit the top cover but apparently not. Thanks,

Re: Regulator getting hot

Duncan,
You mentioned that you have a battery cut off switch on your TC. Where did you locate it?

Re: Under dash panel

Thanks Carl. What is the material made of? I would guess it has to be somewhat flexible.

Under dash panel

Does anyone know what the board is made of for the shield under the dash? I have the covering but I don't know if it is two pieces or one and what it is made of. Seems to me it needs to be somewhat flexible to follow the contour of the dash.
Thanks,

Mark

Re: Power to TCc 7801 ignition switch

Call off the wolves! My wife came down to the shop last night and asked what the problem was. I explained that I got power to everything except what was supposed to start the car, that the wiring was correct, but it still wouldn't start. She simply said it "had to be the switch" and suggested that I...

Power to TCc 7801 ignition switch

Need a bit of help. Just completed the wiring of TC7801 without flashers using W.75781 which is in the Instruction manual. Prior to energizing the system I checked most of the circuits and all was good. When I connected the battery, all of the lighting circuits worked but the ignition warning lamp w...

Bishops cam oil level

I'm putting together the steering box on TC7801. I have a Bishops cam installed from the previous owner. How much lubricant should there be in the box and how is it checked and/or added in the future? There doesn't seem to be any way of adding lube if it needs it. Also, what is the recommended type ...

Steve,

Please look for the reflectors. I don't know the cost of re-silverimg but at least it gives me some options. Thanks,

Now that is certainly an option. I'll have to consider that as a possibility. Thanks, Mark.

Parts needed for TC 7801

I'm tying to close in on the completion of TC 7801 and need some parts. I got the car in pieces "as is" and as I go along I find that some items were not with the car. I'm almost finished with the paining and the tub is on the chassis so I'm now into the assembly process. I'm looking for at this tim...

Re: sector shaft bore

Stephen, I'll make a note and tie it to the steering box for when I get it set up and ready to run, I experienced a similar situation with both of my TD's. One is concours(and a driver) and the other is strictly a driver. They would always wander even with the all components brought back to spec. I ...
