Re: TC Front License Plate Angle Fix

That's a good idea but I would rather look at the car with a straight mounted plate. So I'll figure out what I'll do then drive within the speed limit. Yea right! Ha!

Re: TC Front License Plate Angle Fix

Thanks for your response and input. I think the license plate mounting was changed from the TA to TC as my valance has the 2 holes (1/4") drilled with captive nuts welded to the back side. I have small 1/4" ID aluminum tubing that I'll use to make the spacers, unless someone with a TC responses with...

TC Front License Plate Angle Fix

The position of the front license plate holes in the front valance are angled downward causing the plate to be on a downward angle not 90 degrees. What's the key to getting the plate 90 degrees? Is there a beveled spacer that fits between the plate and valance? If there isn't a factory part availabl...

Re: TC Interior Patterns

Robert,
Thanks for your kind offer to borrow your interior pieces. Fortunately I located a complete set a few miles from my house so shortly I'll be going over to the fellow MG TC owners house to get his. Thanks again for your generous offer.

TC Interior Patterns

Does anyone know where I might be able to find patterns of the numerous interior pieces? When I bought my car it was completely apart and didn't have much of the interior. I'm not using the factory seat so I'm interested in the door panels, kick panels and the rear area pieces. Any ideas? Thanks!

Re: Brake Cover?

The cover thickness is approx 1/8". I don't know what their original purpose was but I think they do change the side look of the car. Usefulness I don't know, ascetically I like them!

Re: Brake Cover?

The set I have are a heavy gauge aluminum. When I first put them on in their raw aluminum finish I didn't care for the way they looked but now painted a satin black to match the wheel I kind of like the look. I intend to power coat or paint the wheels, drums and these discs a dark green to match the...

Brake Cover?

Does anyone know the back story on aluminum brake drum covers? Were they used to protect the brake drum from mud build up while hill climbing or to cover the wimpy small brake drums?

Re: TC Spare Tire Key Assembly

OK, got it. I assembled the pieces per Pete's instructions and it all fell together as it should. Thanks to both of you for your help. I swear, some days it's like my brain takes a break and the simplest tasks confuse me. Thanks again!

Re: TC Spare Tire Key Assembly

Hi Pete, Thanks for your detailed response. I understand the assembly of the KO, key and medallion but I don't get how to install the assembled knock off onto the spare tire. Obviously the KO assembly just screw into the spare tire holder but what happens to the key, does it find it's way into the k...

TC Spare Tire Key Assembly

Would someone guide me as to how the spare tire knock off is assembled? I understand the pieces and how they fit together but I'm having a tough time figuring out the sequence of the assembly and fitment to the spare wheel. I'm either very tired or rapidly aging! :(

Re: TC door alignment.

IMG_6906.jpg IMG_6997.jpg Here's what I was faced with with my '49TC. I tried straps, shims and force without success so I decided to reshape the door skin to fit. I was cautious and careful and spent too much time thinking about it but I finally just did it. I began by removing all the wood leavin...

Re: Alternative Wheels For A TC

Luckily I live in Southern California where it doesn't rain very much. On those rare occasions when rain is forecasted I just take another car out. The louvers were stamped on the bonnet top panels when I bought the car, something I most likely would not have done.

Re: Alternative Wheels For A TC

My TC will look quite original with BRG paint and no cycle wings! The biggest visual changes are the top bonnet panels have louvers and there's a matching 'blister' on the right side bonnet panel like the one on the left side panel. Other then that it will retain it's factory look, including the 19"...

Re: Alternative Wheels For A TC

I am in agreement with you all about the look of the car with 19" wheels, I love it, but I was looking around on line and saw a few cars with smaller tires and liked the way the car looked a bit closer to the ground. (Notice I avoided using the "lowered" look!) I do have an engine in the car with tw...

Alternative Wheels For A TC

What is the most common alternative size wheels used on TC's? I've seen 16" and some 15" wheels used but which size is the more desirable? I do like the skinny factory 19" wheels but am thinking about possibly going with smaller diameter ones. Any one with experience with smaller wheels? Thanks.

Re: TC Body Assemble Sequence?

Thanks so much for all the replies. I started by bolting the radiator and shell to the chassis and plan on bolting the cowl and foot panel to the tub then bolting it loosely to the chassis. I've followed this sequence on a TF I did a few years ago and remember it not being as difficult as it was tim...

TC Body Assemble Sequence?

I'm getting ready to do a final assemble of all the body panels before I take it apart for paint. What is the recommended sequence of assemble? Start with the radiator shell and work towards the rear of the car loosely installing all body panels so they can be moved and tweaked for the best fit? Tha...

TC FRONT END TRAVEL?

What is the maximum front axle travel for a TC? My car measures approximately 3/4" from the rubber bump stop to the top of the axle . With the car jacked up and the tires off the ground the distance increases to approx 1 3/4". Does that mean the maximum movement of the front suspension/axle is only ...
