Re: 'water on the head', no not that one, the cylinder head!

Soft washers will give you false torque due to galling. Grinding (galling) soft metal surfaces requires more turning force showing more torque at the handle than is being applied to the fasteners.

I'd leave everything as is and re-torque without any washers.

Re: TC Q-type

I just finished my Steve Baker Q. It isn't a "kit" as we kind of know the word. The body comes as an empty shell. Many important parts are included, some are extra. Everything else is on you. Floor brackets, seat belt mounts, floors, scuttle supports.... There is a lot of fabrication to be done. I s...

Hand-Crank shaft lengths

I've got 2. One is 21 3/4" (546mm) long from bend to engaged end. The other is 18 1/2" (469 mm) long.

Does anyone know what car(s) they belong to?

Thanks.

John Grumpart doesn't exist. It's satire.

I would however like a few more Canadians to come down and show us how to use our turn signals. That would not be satire.

Re: Volumex supercharger capacity (air movement)

So, I'm going to embarrass myself here a bit... Per revolution a 1250cc engine will gulp 625cc (2 power strokes) and the blower outputs 1150cc. That's almost a 2:1 ratio, blower capacity to engine capacity. Normal atmospheric pressure (at sea level) is approx 14 psi. So I should expect to see nearly...

Re: Question for anyone driving a lightweight (aluminum) T

I don't have a light weight Aluminum TC do have a TC I race that is much lighter then a stock TC. What I did was take the very bottom spring off and put in on top of the springs under the axle. Lowered the car a little and softer rear which the car needed That's clever. I was thinking about removin...

Question for anyone driving a lightweight (aluminum) T

I'm building a TC "Q" Special and I've just fitted the rear axle to the leaf springs. With the car - and me - fully weighted to the springs the axle is not lifting from the frame. This car is not going to get much heavier, perhaps 50 pounds for the fenders and seats, etc. Question: did you modify th...

The MG badge on supercharged cars....

How was the MG badge on supercharged cars made? What material?

This is being reproduced very nicely, but I'm pretty sure they weren't laser-cut stainless.

Does anyone know?

Thanks.

Re: Pertronix - motor will not stop running when key tunred

You are still detonating fuel. Try leaning the mixture and cooler plugs to shed heat and eliminate a hot spot.

Not all plugs are equal. Some are designed to stay hotter than others. A hot plug can cause run-on (dieseling).

Looking for a BOOST gauge

I'm building a supercharged TC Q Special (I found a body-less chassis) and need a Boost gauge that is or looks period. I've got a bunch of gauges coming from Smiths for the rest, but they offer a Turbo gauge that reads in bars rather than pounds. Are there any places in the UK that might have this? ...

Franz, your English is fine.... better than my German.

I think I may have found a solution. I'm going to find clock hands that look right.

I have done etching and silvering. It's quite fussy and a challenge, by very rewarding when it works.
