Stainless steel exhaust makes no problems. Is that, what I have. The idea of ventilaton sounds good, indeed !

Re: 5 Speed gearbox
Ray, no problem with your gearing, having a supercharger. Also in our TC there is one plus an exctractor manifold and the ratio I chose is 4,22. Works very well. I calculated all before I went therefore as I am living in the mountains and it should be an improvement against the former 4,875. So it c...

Re: 5 Speed gearbox
So, why not install a longer dufferential?
Will cure the too short first, help lower turns at high speeds and keep the wonderful feeling of the original gearbox. Plus costs a lot less.

Re: TC 5 speed box
Since some weeks our supercharged TC has a Morris Minor Pumpkin. In our region there are many mountains and I did some calculations before I fitted a 4.22 version. The TC has also a bit greater tyres. As expected the setup is fantastic. Hills can be easily climbed one gear lower with very good perfo...

Re: Fan to water pump spacer
Hi Marc, our TC did not have a spacer, too. When I installed the supercharger, it was obvious that there was not enough clearing to let the additional belt pass. So I had to use a spacer, which I made on my lathe. There was enough space in front of the ventilator so that the radiator is left undamag...

Re: TC engine overhaul
well, some works are done. All valve guides showed only small clearance to the valve stems, only No.3 outlet was remarcably bigger (0,25mm). There was a very pretty spark plug face, so I decided not to go on in exchanging the valve guides. All of the o-rings for the outlet valves were very hard. The...

Hello Dirk, this is one of these news that make me stop what I just wanted to do and stay quiet. I had contact with your father earlier this year and he wrote very open about his life and his disease. I remember well when I wrote him some lines to his birthday, I was sitting in Trentino, Italy. Now,...

New Rocker set - a good idea ?
Hi Folks, how I already wrote, I commenced the examination of the excessive oil consumption of our TC. By that way I noticed the rockers being worn at their surface towards the valves. New ones would be a solution. The usual suppliers mostly do not have all the rockers needed. One offer is very temp...

Re: TC engine overhaul
Hi everybody, in spite of my hopings that this autumn should never end, nature turned into white and so there was no escape from beginning, what I announced to do. Preferred the everlasting salt free time, but my prayers were not heared. What I found when today I removed the first inlet valve spring...

Hi Norman, very well to hear from you, too. Of course I know your site and love reading it. Story full of life. I confess, I read it with general interest and did not remember all the technical details. Will catch up soon. But indeed, your suggestion is exactly what I have been again recommended tod...

Re: TC engine overhaul
well, a lot of help at a rainy sunday ! I will have to take off a lot of bits, i.e. supercharger, the extractor outlet pipes, modified starter switch and so on. Taking out the engine without tranny fits me better, anyway. So far, I decided to check the valve stem clearing om the guides and the condi...

Re: TC engine overhaul
Hi Stephen, thanks for that ! I read your post here concerning a TB, where you wrote the same. Please, could you tell me how to manage this in detail ? Especially how to pass the mentioned front traverse with the engine ? Tonight I had the idea to remove the oil pan before, but I am not shure if tha...

Re: TC engine overhaul
Hi Tom, thank you one more time for your help ! It is ridiculous, when I inspected the cylinders with my endoscope (twice) there were pretty hone patterns to be seen, and of course I looked for indications for ridges, but nothing was to be seen. My wife followed me (and she knows very well what is t...

TC engine overhaul
Hello together, being owner of our lovely '48 TC since two years we are very happy and use it regularly. Last winter a supercharger was added and since then the hill climbing ability has dramatically increased. I played around with the carb needle, as I am used to do it from our other UK-toys and th...

Re: Using Pertronics in the TC
Hello together, since yesterday with Pertronix. Today my first test drive. They sell one for neg. earth (received it falsely for our pos. ground, first). You have to add one wire. Installation 10min. when having read the text, 20 min. if not. I took 20min. Performance is indeed slightly better (just...

Re: TC overheating- another question!
Hi Tone, I am not the best knowing one of the old MGs, because we own our TC just for a bit more than one year, but I have been told, and it is my experience too, living here in Bavaria with many mountains around, that there are normally no temperature problems with the XPAG. Maybe the reason for ov...

Re: Hello and problem with stub axles
Hi Searunner, thanks for the idea with the spindles. Up to now, I came not nearer to this because of the tricky operation. I don't have the facilities therefore and I fear, my old screwer friend hasn't it either. In your region, is this easyily to be made? We are often in Trentino, so perhaps this w...

Re: Hello and problem with stub axles
Hi Tom, thanks a lot! Was trying to get Roger Furneaux at the phone yesterday, but it is said to be a bit difficult, so I will try on. John James is a new tip for me. Will try him. TTT2 is well known to me as a very good source for help. One word in general. My first experience here, what I learned ...
