Re: Clutch foot rest ?

That’s an interesting concept. I find that with narrow driving shoes, I can fit my size 11 feet between the clutch and the gearbox cover, fully stretching my leg out and feeling very comfortable. With shorter legs that brace would work well too.

Re: TC Gearbox Jumping Out of Second Gear

Hi Mike, before you begin pulling the motor and gearbox, check the large nut on the gearbox prop shaft output flange. If it’s loose everything in the box will shift forward and you lose 2nd gear first. Years ago I had this exact same symptom and that’s all it was. Fingers crossed!

Re: TC tyres

Reading about this new development of radial tires on TCs, everyone is enthusiastic about grip. But is grip always good? Won’t this put more stress on the wheels, stub axles, half shafts, etc? I like that I can break the rear loose in a turn and slide the car around on bias ply tires (I have Longsto...

Re: to block or not to block rocker hole that is the question

A few weeks ago I discovered my rocker shaft was installed backwards and there was no oil flowing to the rockers at all, just oil mist for at least the last 7000 or 8000 hard miles I’ve driven the car, and who knows how long before that. I rebuilt everything but was very surprised at just how little...

I did mine last year from below and it was very easy. Hardest part was removing and reinstalling the heat shield. I cannot picture why yours is being difficult.

Re: Starter Install....tips needed

Just had an opportunity to remove mine. I was loathe to remove the exhaust. I undid the BC steering box mount and removed the drag link from the drop arm (the drag link will hit the front of the sump and not allow the box to come up high enough). Also needed to remove the steering tube clamp in the ...

Re: Removing the oil pump

I think Tom is right. You would have to remove the Idler shaft as recommended above so you can spin the whole locked assembly out. Normally it just 8 bolts and they slide right out unless someone has used rtv on the paper gasket.

Re: Losing oil pump prime after oil change

That’s a good theory... I’ll look when I pull the pan. Strange that one squirt of oil fixes it,

Losing oil pump prime after oil change

I rebuilt my engine in 2018. I didn’t really have any oil pressure issue prior so I just cleaned up the pump cover, removed an extra gasket and replaced the pressure spring. I set the clearances correctly. Upon completing the rebuild I had a very difficult time getting oil pressure. Since then, ever...

Hi Rob, do you own a 1920 Model T? Since you are in Michigan we have a good T-series club, theoretically state wide, but most of us are in the Detroit area. Enjoy the car!

Re: TC Paint color

I had an opportunity, a few days ago ironically, to inspect a very original car originally shires green then overpainted at some point in “BRG”. You can easily see the dramatic difference in this photo. Shires Green is almost the color of the current Moss interior green. Gooogling some images shows ...

Re: Oil Pump Priming

Good to know Steve and I’m trying to justify it to myself. It’s just concerning to look at after being used to much better pressures. I’m going to try fitting the solid ones today which were kind of challenging... need to pick up a tubing bender first.

Re: Oil Pump Priming

Jim, i have run into almost the exact same issue, a 15 PSI pressure drop across the board using flex lines recently purchased from FTFU. Where did you get your "test lines" from and can they make another set? I will PM you as well as this thread is so old i'm not sure it will update you. Thanks, Ken

Did you retorque the head after running it up to temperature? That may be all it needs. You used new bolts, correct?

Rick,
Yes, that should work... really kind of the same thing i'm showing. The piston stop device will work and i used a similar technique using a spacer clamped to the block top to find true TDC in mine. good luck!

Re: xpag cam timing

Hi, here is a picture of the setup with the degree wheel, pointer, and a dial gauge configured on the first cam lobe (with a hardwood dowel between the roller cam follower and gauge pointer). You will need to know the correct settings for your cam profile unless it is ground stock. I also used an ad...

Re: Distributor micro adjuster

Mine is very sloppy too. I suspect this is from attempting to adjust it without loosening the distributor fixing bolt.

its mostly for show. I adjust mine with a timing light!
