Re: What's it like to live with a MGTC?

I agree with all above. I am pleased with my VW steering and Alfin style brake drums. I consider a higher diff ratio essential for the freeway. I have a Morris 4.55. Our club, The Abingdon Rough Riders (http://www.abingdonroughriders.org/) is closer to Sacramento than The Motoring Guild. I'm sure th...

Re: Poor (at best) braking on my TC - advice requested

I posted, in 2018, that the TC brakes "suck," even though I had installed Grunau Alfin drums and soft linings. Since then I installed a brand new master cylinder from From the Frame Up, and I am pleased to report that the brakes are much, much better. They no longer suck. I believe that Doug Pelton ...

Re: Hazard Flashing Unit

I installed a digital turn signal device that does hazard lights. It is self canceling (timed) and works with LED or standard tailight/sidelamp bulbs. It uses two standard momentary switches (doorbell type) for left or right turn signals. Press both at the same time for hazard light. It automaticall...

A very good article on how to determine which camshaft you have can be found at: http://ttalk.info/CamshaftID.htm .

Good luck, Norman

Also, What about converting to LED, which seems like a better option for our ancient dynamos?

Re: LED indicators

Hello Dezwartj, For many years I have been flashing my LED lights using a turn signal module that I purchased from Speedway Motors (·www.speedwaymotors.com/)(Part # 91064070 now $104). It requires negative ground and uses buttons for left and right signals. It has the added advantages of automatic t...

He did a great job rebuilding and updating my clock many years ago. It now keeps perfect time.
It's a pleasure to recommend him.

Re: Rubber Shock Bushings. Just use a worm drive hose clamp to squeeze the rubber bushing, as if it was a piston ring compressor. Makes it easy as pie.

I am curious. How did the factory attach hoists or dollies to the engine units to move them around and lower them into the cars?

Hi Franz, You seem to share my interest in applying 21st century technology to the MG TC. Here are some things I have done to my TC: Note that these applications require the conversion of your car to negative ground. Self-Cancelling turn signals using illuminated push buttons. I used an existing ele...

Is the drawing provided by Richard Michell available for download on-line with a higher resolution? A link? Or is an already printed-out version available for sale? Where?

Thanks, Norman

I'll bite. Check out the June 18, 2017 posting on this site for a discussion of converting to a VW steering box. A very common, yet controversial, solution to TC steering gearbox problems. A nice, easy to install conversion kit is available at http://mwthemachineshop.com/vwvsbc . Worked on my car. G...

Re: Using Pertronics in the TC

I have had a Pertronix negative ground ignition in my TC for many years, and it has been working fine. No complaints. I don't know what a D2A distributer is, but I believe that my distributer is stock for my 1949 TC (6864). I got it from Moss USA, which still has them in their most recent catalog. T...

Re: Poor (at best) braking on my TC - advice requested

I installed Alfin style drums made by Bob Grunau, and they improved the braking remarkably. I believe that the original drums are made of steel that "polishes up" The Gruanu drums are aluminum alloy with cast iron inserts that do not become polished. I also installed the softest linings that my brak...

I did what Steve S. did, and agree with him about the both the half shafts and spindles.
However, my right side axle still leaked after the installation, but now seems to have fixed itself??? I neglected to grease the oil seal.

Re: TC Differential housing

I mistakenly put a breather above the diff. and the ring gear shot oil out of the breather. I had to plug it .
Again, follow the instructions on TATerry's "Pumpkin Time" article at http://www.mg-tabc.org/library/diff.htm , which covers the topic well.
