Checking Water Passages

Back in 2006 one of my TC’s was totaled. I bought it back from the insurance company with the intention of rebuilding it but life got in the way and it’s been on the backburner now for 16 years…until now. The main damage was to the body so the engine, transmission and chassis are in good shape…front...

Re: initial oil pressure

You were definitely lucky…I wasn’t. I had a Moss replacement circlip on my shaft, it broke and the shaft was pulled down into the engine. It damaged one of my balanced rods and cracked the end of the oil pump…about $800 in damages.

Totally agree Stephan. If you like it, use it, if you don’t, don’t. I also have 20+ years experience with DOT 5 and have never had a problem.

Yes, if it’s the bottom hole open it up to fit over the round bolt head.

Interesting choice of mounting point for your seat belt - through the wood floor. Have you reinforced the underside of the floor to spread the load in the event of an accident?
Steve, these are aluminum floorboards, not wooden...very solid.

One more view...mounted in car. Room at either side, excellent height, easy enough to get in and out of the car even at my age.

Re: TC Bucket Seats?

I recently bought two bucket seats (left and right) from Tom Wilson for my modified TC. They seem to fit fine but I still need to get them upholstered. I'm not sure what car they were meant for but I'm sure Tom would know.

Re: Rebuilding XPAG 9204

Earlier in this thread Tom Lange mentioned going to Moss and get an oil pump rebuild kit. If you do please very carefully check the circlip that comes in the kit. Mine failed and caused some expensive damage to the pump and the #2 rod.

Re: Installing Main Bearings

Steve, they’re normally a thumb press tight fit in the cap...they should be fine but if not, they’re easy to remove without damaging them.

Re: Gearbox woes..

SteveT...not sure if you've done anything further on this but if you haven't, and you've decided to go the 5-speed route (I have), I highly recommend you deal directly with Peter Gamble at https://hi-gearengineering.co.uk/ rather than go through Moss. You'll save money and Peter is a delight to work...

Resources?

What happened to the listing for "Resources"? I accidently clicked on the picture above and got taken back to the old site where I found them so had my original question answered but curious if there's going to be an obvious link to "Resources, Members, etc" in the future? Be that as it may....thank...

Chris...I have had water on a head bolt in the past...it was the one on the right rear. I used loctite on it and never saw water again. Since it’s all of your head bolts though I’d have to go along with the rest...either a head gasket or a torque problem. Another thought, does your head match your b...

The XPAW engine is basically the same engine as the XPAG so dimensionally they’re the same.
