Only difference (an improvement) is bridge across bottom of crank handle hole.
Shell is unchanged otherwise.!

Re: 30 mph light

Ray, I have revisited your car details..particularly the Peter LLoyd dealer's plate. In your photo these two plates are not attached in an original way (only two pins in body plate) and the Lloyd plate may even be from a different car. The records list Lloyds having sold several TCs new in 1950 (the...

Re: Wiring Loom or Harness

I understand the original cotton outer cover was black with a brown tracer..a company here in Australia does a very accurate harness with all wires colour coded....very happy with the one in my early car (TC0489)

Re: 30 mph light

Very interesting...Peter Lloyd was a sub-agent for MG sales in 1948-50 in Sydney but last recorded TC in Importers records sold through Lloyds was TC9913 on 27 Jan.1950.The records go up to19 May 1950 but your car is not listed. No TDs delivered in 1950 were sold by Lloyds, so perhaps they imported ...

Re: 30 mph light

TC10030 would have arrived in Australia in early 1950 (not 1959 as mentioned earlier) and probably in Melbourne (I have N.S.W. records and it is not in them).
As Tom says no EXR cars coming here had the 30 light... mine is 5th. car to arrive here (TC0489) and did not have a 30 light.

Re: 1949 MG TC

Hi Douglas, Interesting that you say car was originally supplied to a NSW person...I have all records of TCs sold new in NSW and TC7908 is not one of them(perhaps bought interstate...Victoria maybe) As the car is wearing Victorian historic plates,I would suggest writing to Matthew Magilton in Melbou...

That is optional Oil Temp. Gauge which is usually connected to a modified sump plug.
The needle does certainly seem to be on the wrong side of stop!!

Re: Fitting Half-tonneau and rail to '49 TC

The method of securing the front "flap" of the tonneau over the rail is worth mentioning....there are several studs in the backboard of the seat to which the elastic tapes are secured by "lift-o-dots". These are in particular positions....if you need exact locations let me know. Jeff Newey TC0489 Au...

Re: It's on it's way.

Duncan's reference to EXU steering wheel is interesting......EXU cars were never sent to Australia (of course) but there are quite a few EXU steering wheels here! I have at least 3. I suspect that Bluemel supplied many more wheels than EXU cars used. They seem to have been supplied as replacement "fa...

Re: MG TC Water Temperature Gauge

I have both water and oil Temp. gauges now fitted to my TC. I didn't want to spoil the original dash so chose to mount them in a double accessory plate under the dash to the right of the tacho. ,they are quite visable and I am happy with the instalation. The water gauge attaches to the radiator top ...

Re: MG Ausca

Afraid Claude is wrong...it really is AUSCA.The body shell is F/glass and copied from a 50s Maserati A6G. The original Ausca Special carrying this shell is a famous Holden engined special built by Paul England in Melbourne. Quite a number of body shells were manufactured and fitted to various MG and...
