Re: Crankshaft Pulley Oil Seal Replacement.

Yes, interesting. Now what constitutes the difference between a weep and a leak? Could it be the number of droplets contained in the puddle in question? I think I have some things that weep, but than the rear main could constitute a leak, but it only leaks or weeps when the engine is shut down. Coul...

You are quite right Norman, to some degree it is a young man's game.

Re: Basket Case TC for Sale

I'm 71 and am restoring a 61 Morgan +4 SS that was started in 1979( I'm third owner) . Just finished a 1948 "force fed " TC. You don't have to finish the project , It's the process. 69 is the new 49. I have done several Morgans over the years, the last about 25 years ago was an early Moss box Plus ...

Re: Basket Case TC for Sale

I would love to have that, but the distance and my encroaching 70th birthday along with a body that is not as supple as it once was and a mind that really does not have the attention span it once did, as well as a small degree of common sense will preclude this. I really don't think after TC2911 I h...

Re: MGTC battery charging

Make sure you have the leads connected to the generator correctly. If everything checks out, you may have to repolarize the generator, check the web for instructions.

Re: TC Help!

Do you mean brake lights or tail lights? The brakes lights run through sort of a separate circuit than the headlamps not going through the dash board switch as I recall.

Re: TC rear door pillar and over wheel arch profile

Steve, It has been a number of years since I built this and I do not remember all the exact fit up issues, but I believe the inner dash lined up well enough with the door posts. In that the quarters are on and wrap around the post a bit, it is very hard to tell the fit. I would suggest a trial fit o...

Re: TC rear door pillar and over wheel arch profile

I went out and took a look at mine and did a little measuring. Pretty flat at the top as best I could tell perhaps a tiny slope as you get to elbow rail and maybe a touch going toward the rear corner. My timbers were new from Moss and were very good, and the rear quarter panel was repaired, the orig...

Re: Crankshaft Pulley Oil Seal Replacement.

As I recall the modern seal fits into sort of a rounded half slot in the timing case and also in the sump that the rope seal would have been packed into. When the modern seal is installed the slot is given a coating of gasket sealer to seal around the outside of the modern seal as it is not that snu...

Re: Crankshaft Pulley Oil Seal Replacement.

I doubt that you can do that. As I recall, and it has been awhile since I have had the sump off, the modern lip type oil seal requires it to be set in sealant to locate properly and seal around the outside of it. It does not just slide into the recess in the sump and timing case.

Re: TC Dashboard Position

Mine sits about flush with the rolled edge pretty much all around, maybe just a bit proud at the humps. Keep in mind there is chrome trim as well as the piping and it is the piping that finishes things off and fills any gaps to give a neat appearance.

Yes, and I should have measured them. These appear to be a bit thicker, perhaps 3/16" would be closer.

Yes, there are rubber strips between the firewall and the cowl timbers and also between the triangular brackets and the firewall.

Re: TC Firewall/Bulkhead Colour

Brad, I am betting that your firewall has been repainted at some point in its life as mine was. It is pretty well accepted that they were painted a light gray. When I pulled mine off the timbers, that is exactly what I found on the flanges under the rubber seals. I wish I could have discovered some ...

Re: TC Firewall/Bulkhead Colour

Brad, I can tell you that TC2911 has the deeper cruder looking flutes and the bolts holding the firewall to the scuttle were and are black. The firewall as I mentioned had not been removed from the tub and all the bolts washers, wire loom holder, etc were intact when I took it apart. As far a the en...

Re: TC Firewall/Bulkhead Colour

Yes, given your sn. your firewall would be light gray, read the post about three before this one and this is discussed. Mine was what you might call a light dove gray and I used a Rustoleum rattle can to paint the thing. I found the original color not to have a high gloss, but age and heat probably ...
