Re: Bonnet (hood) Fitting

Was the bonnet original to this car? They were hand fit on the assembly line with a big set of metal shears!

Re: TC battery relocation

The Westco is the smallest battery I've used on the TC, at 320 CCA. It cranks just as strong as the Optima it replaced, which had 910 CCA. That tells me that the car is not starving at all with 320. The only disadvantage of the Westco is that it won't hold as much of a charge, so if you have a charg...

Re: TC in films

I looked it up and did the best I could in Photoshop. Hard to tell anything definitive but it looks like early front wings so that would make it TA-early TC.

Re: TC battery relocation

I use a Westco battery as found in early Miatas (MX-5 in UK) in several of my smaller cars including the TC. It has plenty of power for the car and takes up far less space than the original. Alongside the battery I keep two quarts of oil, a complete distributor with cap and wires, a small bottle of ...

Re: TC battery relocation

Thinking about it logically, I'm not sure it would make any real difference. Maybe if you're driving really hard or racing, but unless the tires are breaking loose then I'd say there would be no benefit. On the downside, you would have a much longer cable from battery to starter, control box, etc. T...

Re: lettering TC Instrument panel

I've never seen any stick-on labels that looked good to me. In fact I left mine without labels at all because I dislike stickers so much. But to answer your question, I think the second attempt looks much better than the first. The less clear stuff the better. Another option would be to have a vinyl...

Re: MG TA water pump lubricant

It sounds like you have a later engine with the oiler. The factory specifies engine oil for this location. The earlier ones used Duckham's H.B.B. grease.

Re: So during this enforced confinement in the UK...............

I just got a package of parts from the UK, so I'm moving forward on TC9849's restoration. This week is focusing on the front axle. I'm also doing a front suspension rebuild on the Healey.

Re: outer body irons, TA v TC?

I don't have the answer, but the TA body is 1.5" narrower than the TC so it's possible that there are differences.

Re: Reset "trip" mileage -- How?

I just went out and double checked my memory. Pull down and turn clockwise (as viewed from underneath) to reset. Pull down and turn counterclockwise to increase mileage. It's possible the little gear on the reset knob isn't aligned properly with the gear it's supposed to engage. Or it's spinning on ...

without this jig it is not possible to press the link arm into the rubber bush,
It is possible, just not easy. I've done it a few times and hated it each time! I have 8 shocks to do soon so this time I'll make a jig.

Very nice. I've been planning to build a jig to hold the link arm. Now that I see yours, it gives me a good idea on how to do it. Without a jig like that it's really hard to get the link into the shock arm bushing.

The cover just pulls off. There are a couple detents at the base which keep it in place.

Re: MG TA1932 in Germany - Blog - all problems and ...

Removing the shocks is easy. Replacing the rubber is not. Two bolts hold the shock in place on the chassis. And one nut for the link arm.
