Door check fitting

Good day, I,m not sure if others have had the frustration of fitting these things but very difficult when your car has lost the original cappings on body and door. Without seeing original diameter or correct location had to guess from holes in metal replacement parts for inside of door. On my driver...

Bonnet fitting

Good day.I am in the stages of fitting guards and bonnets back on my TC after having tub and doors painted. Just wondering is there a correct method of re attaching bonnets to hinge ends? At the moment they are sitting on car but how do you screw fittings without lifting or opening to do screws up. ...

Rear corner timbers

Just a few pics of corner timbers to rear of body tub. Who ever retimbered my car in the past had fitted a wooden block diagonally across. Mr multi tool came to the rescue but have destroyed two wood blades but cheap enough to replace. I was hoping the inner wheel arch would butt up against new timb...

Re: Lug bolts

Good day.i have added a few more pictures. Some readers have probably seen issue prior to car getting tub painted. I was hoping panel shop would repair but what is stays. It would seem dash panel is original as there is no evidence of disturbence once stripped back to bare metal but differs from dri...

Lug bolts

My car has arrived home with new paint on the body tub. What took minutes to remove seems to be taking ages to refit every thing. Because I want to repaint the guards at a later stage I have come across the idea of using lug bolts to attach guards and running boards In theory I should be able to rem...

Re: MG TC bulls horns dimensions

Thanks for picture. It looks like I can make and fit later and seems like only there to assist should wood/ ply fall apart. My timber is mostly intact but starting to delaminate on bottom corners. I was going to inject epoxy resin and clamp with a g clamp untill set. Perhaps the metal acts like a sh...

Re: MG TC bulls horns dimensions

I was also lucky that could see a faint outline over each wheel arch where there would of been a bracket. I dont think my inner wheel arches are a correct fit as there is gaps in between the timber of the door pillars but they were replaced sometime in the past. Same goes for the rear of the wheel b...

Re: MG TC bulls horns dimensions

From what I can work out should be same angle as floor behind the seat with a right angle if viewed side on My car did not have one so was able to purchase from UK. I mounted it along floor at edge where meets angle at top and brackets aligned close to top door hinges. Only problem was the hoop over...

Distributor o ring

Gday. My distributor has arrived having been sent away to be refurbished and has come back with an O ring fitted in the groove where set bolt goes. There wasnt one when removed. I guessed it could not sit in the groove so rolled it up under the micro adjuster but this prevented me installing the set...

TC door sills

Hi.have a quick question.. Do the door sills fold over underneath or just stay as a flat slab. On my passenger side the sill is not folded but half way along someone has folded over the timber. On the drivers side has not been folded over. Just wondering what is correct. My car is ready to have the ...

Re: TC rear axle oil leak onto brake shoes (yep, again .....

My car leaks oil into inside of splined hub but does not seem to get inside brake area as some previous owner has applied silicone to where backing plate area is. I was told by an old mechanic that a common simple fix for this was to insert a bath plug into hub under spinner. I have not yet tried th...

Re: Moss seats for TC

From what I have seen ,nothing really matches original leather hides today as I ,m sure the tanning process is different to how was originally done and leather seems much softer . Not sure if it has anything to do with vegetable tanned hides way back then . I was lucky to pick up a 2nd hand Moss Kit...

Re: TC Tub Rebuild Thread and Questions

This is where I am to date and in the process of removing rear guards and petrol tank . One finds many suprises. Discovered a wasp nest behind rear trim but thankfully wasps had vacated. My car gets driven at least once a week but doors have taken a while to finnish. From what I have found unless yo...

Re: Rear hood tacking strip question

I thought might add pictures of the tacking strip on the car.I have repositioned so the inside edge is flush but this leaves top of body tub exposed with nails visible. I suppose would not be seen when hood attached and nailed This timber is not original and wonder should it be wider to finnish neat...

Re: TC Tub Rebuild Thread and Questions

Have attached some more pictures . Except for front door timber ,nothing else original remains so has been very difficult to know how things were originally and due to poor fitting of the doors and possibly timber work a lot of damage has been disguised. Metal has been cut away and original door cap...

Re: TC Tub Rebuild Thread and Questions

Hi when it came to hanging my doors I had to fill the rebate on body timber on both sides as the doors wete too close and would not close as the inside metal would foul. It was also necesarry to drill out all srew holes and insert dowels as doors had to screw into different position. The previous ow...
