Re: Rear hood tacking strip question

Thanks .It is what I thought would be ,a section of timber with curve to match. It seems the timber in my car has been screwed from outside so may have to split it to remove. I was hoping that I could get a jig saw and cut it to shape but have the general idea. The hood tacking strip has the wrong c...

Hi.I now have doors fitted again and will soon be taking to painters to have them painted along with rest of nody tub and dash. Once done can finally install trim. My question is that all my pictures show trim on hood timber folded over but on my car on the inside corners is a block of wood each sid...

Re: Does this mean I have a bad piston ring?

Love your garage helper. When I was a young teenager we had a lovely white Poodle .Often I would be fixing my bicycle or someone elses and get oily hands . I would get dry washing powder and wash hands under the tap and call the faithfull dog and use him as a towel. My mother caught me in the act an...

Re: TC Radiator hose leaks

I heard that an old speedo cable on end of a drill inserted into engine block can clean out galleries of muck.
Has any one heard of this method.Think modern chemical cleaning and then make sure Glycol added but we use over here in Oz as a coolant

Re: TC Radiator hose leaks

Hi Jeff.to give you an idea of how a grubby engine etc can be transformed. Some time ago I posted about Heat Shield and while fitting replaced radiator hoses .thermostat etc and fuel lines. While at it removed radiator and then grill. When you pull things apart you sure end up deeper than intended. ...

Re: TC Radiator hose leaks

Hi Jeff. Ive seen too many cars that have been taken off the road with the intention of full restoration. Yrs later you still see them with concours chassis and the rest still in bits or the owner given up or passes away. Just get out and enjoy the car. By all means repair what needs doing My car ha...

Re: Front scuttle capping

IMG_20180329_47602.jpg After looking at photos and other side of car it is clearly apparent the difference which explains why passenger door gap varies. I have raised door now to what is similar to the drivers side so may be a case of filling up variations with auto body filler as before but would ...

Re: Front scuttle capping

Thanks for the pictures .Both sides of my car have similar profile but left side of dash is much wider. One thing I notice is timber in body pillar may be incorrect as quite a gap between metal panel at the bottom and wood underneath where it curves up to bottom hinge where the top is almost hard ov...

Re: Front scuttle capping

I now have the new timber fitted to my door and note new timber is checked out for door hinges. My problem now is that the timber and metal skin on the body tub was also checked out for hinges but this timber is not original. I have filled this in with 3 ply and sanded flush but found I needed to fi...

Re: TC Differential housing

On my car someone has fitted TD /TF or very similar and cut the outer housing at ends and re welded the original TC ends so mounts to the springs as per original. I,m not sure how difficult that was but diff runs silent . My car has a slight leak out through splines and not sure if uses same halfsha...

Re: Front scuttle capping

Just need to work out if distance across metal runs at right angles from side of car all the way around opening as mine varies . In theory would be parralell with door from top to bottom but in my case some areas where interior trim attach is much closer than outside of car and other areas the oppos...

Here are a few more pictures.
If I use the door as a guide then would asume capping would be at a right angle to body panels as appears square on door side.

Re: Front scuttle capping

Here are some pictures .As you can see it,s a bit messy but had to remove as could not lift door higher up . Auto body filler hides a multitude of sins and have purchased some that has stainless fillings in it for extra strength. In the picture you can see how much the dash was made to match the doo...

Front scuttle capping

G.day again.I have ordered new timber for my front passenger door so while I am waiting have removed all traces of body filler (Bog) from the top of capping where it finishes under dash down to bottom door bump rubber. As my door was hung too low , the top capping had a good 1/4 inch or more of fill...

Re: Body tub bracket TC

This is where I am up to at the moment. It seems the timbers have all been replaced .Everything is rock solid but the Body tub brace was obviously fitted for a reason. I note that there is a riveted bracket on the wheel arch both sides that has been cut away. I have removed timber from passenger doo...

Re: Body tub bracket TC

Thanks for reply.I have sent him a message on his order site but seem to be having trouble with his web site and catalogue site when looking up on google. MOSS site says unavailable. I would think easy to make if know how thick steel is and is it hollow or solid . Some good pictures of actual mounti...

Body tub bracket TC

Hi there.wondering if any one can supply dimensions etc for the body tub bracket that fits to the TC. Mine is missing so will probably have to get someone to make. Will need to know what thickness and width of steel. Some good pictures of where mounting points on side would be handy as my timber has...
