Re: TC Frame Padding?
It's the same problem with the felt that is used between the front quarter panels and the top of the wood frame where the windscreen mounts go. I used the same solution as Chris, i.e. neoprene sheets. Just make sure that you get the closed cell version otherwise you are just adding a sponge!

Re: Removing the oil pump
From the description of the problem it sounds to me as though the drive shaft of the oil pump has seized in the block. Maybe a good soak with WD40 followed by gentle tapping is the solution.

Re: Peter Edney/XPAG Developments
I could be wrong, but I think that Peter is sometimes the middle man and gets his supplies from a third party manufacturer and then charges a mark up. I'm not knocking him for this as it can take a while to find the manufacturer even if they sell to the public, and other companies do the same thing,...

Re: Peter Edney/XPAG Developments
I was looking at some items that he was selling through e-bay a few weeks ago and asked him a question via the e-bay system. I got a reply within a day, so maybe you could try that route?

Re: TD or TC grille shell on ebay
I'm in need of one so I'm hoping one comes up in the UK. I've learnt from experience that you really need to see the condition of these in person before buying otherwise you could be in for a world of pain in the wallet area. I've had a couple of near misses where I've seen pictures and considered b...

Re: Cylinder Head water gaskets
Thanks for the clarification. Interestingly, when I was cleaning the threads for the front I noticed that the top right thread (as you look at it) goes all the way through to the boring for the No. 6 cylinder head stud (counting in tightening sequence order). This shouldn't be a problem as long as t...

Cylinder Head water gaskets
My gasket kit appears to have two gaskets for the water galleries in the cylinder head. I assume that one is for the blanking plate at the rear and one for the top water elbow at the front. One is cork and one is paper - which one is which? My engine had been stripped and then put back together dry ...

Re: Cylinder Head Stud Torque
I was watching a Peter Edney engine rebuild DVD yesterday and he was recommending putting a little high temperature gasket compound on the stud threads that go into the block. Apparently sometimes there can be water leaks into the threaded bore that then rise up the threads by capillary action. Any ...

Cylinder Head Stud Torque
I know what the torque settings are for the cylinder head stud nuts, but when I put new studs in the block, is there a torque that I should be tightening them to?

Re: New body panels etc.
I bought a couple of inner wheel arches for my TC from NTG last year before I started to cut the middle man out and find the manufacturers direct (which I wish I had done sooner as I would have saved money). From the look of the photos on the site that you have linked, this is where NTG got them fro...

Hi Tim,
Once we are out of lockdown feel free to call in to see me one day to take exact measurements for reproduction purposes if it helps. If lockdown becomes protracted I guess that I could trace the one with the dog leg onto paper and then post it to you so that you have a template.

If you only need to use it a couple of times, I recommend that you just find a friendly local garage and ask if you can use theirs for half an hour. I borrowed some one off needed tools from my local tyre fitter in exchange for biscuits.

Re: Dashboard centre panel colour
Hi Norman, thanks for looking. Hi Tim, thanks for the paint code. As you say, it may not mean anything to another paint company. However, I have found an original painted item so I may take that to my local paint shop and see if they can make up a can using that as a colour match if they don't recog...

Re: Dashboard centre panel colour
Hi Tim,
Yes please, if you could send me the colour code that would be great. There is a company close to me that can make up just about any colour in a spray can. I wish that I had taken the chance to come up and see you before the new round of lockdowns had started.

Re: Dashboard centre panel colour
I should add that I'm probably being a little tight fisted here in asking the question. I know that I can buy some from the usual TC spares suppliers in the UK in a spray can, but £20+ to spray a few square inches seems a lot when there are a multitude of cans to be bought from elsewhere for 1/3 of ...

Dashboard centre panel colour
As I'm going to have a rexine covered dashboard centre panel my understanding is that it needs to be painted in bronze. Is there a colour code (e.g. a RAL code) or a description for the shade of bronze that I should be using as I need to buy some paint. Having done a quick look on e-bay there are lo...

Hi Tom (Wilson), I just wanted to check to make sure that you got my private message as it seems to be stuck in my out box rather than showing in my sent folder, so I'm not sure that it's actually been delivered. If not then I can send you a direct e-mail if you let me have your address. Regards Steve

The problem with posting a picture is that it's almost impossible to get a true representation of the colour.
