Re: Dashboard centre panel colour
Hi Steve I have attached a photo with the paint code for the panel as mixed by Autosupplies Bolsover. I don't suppose this code will mean anything to other suppliers. I think it is a pretty good match to the original (better than the picture shows) but the original does have a slightly more gold (ch...

Re: Dashboard centre panel colour
Hi Steve, I have just repainted mine. I had some colour mixed by a company in Bolsover - I can send you the details and the code if you want. I think it was about £12 but I am very happy with the colour as it matches the original I found on the rear of the map light. You need to use etch primer as t...

Re: TC instrumentation panel lettering
Thanks all. I still have to get the paint for the panel - a small section under the switch area is still original so I will try to match this up. I plan to try with a Letraset approach i.e. individual letters but I will try it out first on a blank plate and see how it goes. I will post a picture if ...

Re: TC instrumentation panel lettering
Thanks Tom. I am UK based so a refurb by Craig would not be an option due to postage etc hence to question over font size.

TC instrumentation panel lettering
Does anyone know the size of the letters used on the instrumentation panel - from pictures it looks around 2.5 to 3mm?

Hi Rob - not linear but very close. A 0.5mm grind gives a figure of 2.97%

Re: Some engine rebuild advice
I know it doesn't actually help much but as far as the calculation for a re-grind goes; a 1mm (near as matters 40 thou) re-grind on a 50mm shaft reduces the actual strength by 5.88% - this is using a calculation we use in the power industry. Just thought I'd throw it into the mix.

Re: Installing Main Bearings
Hi Steve, Are you going for the new type crank seal with the sleeve? If so if have a tool that locates the carrier centrally that you are welcome to use. You have the have the crank and shells removed as it fits directly into the block and a little bit of machining is required on the new seal carrie...

TC Oil Can Bracket
A quick question - I am doing a few little jobs amongst the major parts of my TC restoration and fancy having a go at making the spare oil can bracket that fits on the bulkhead. I have the oil can for sizing but can someone let me know what flat bar steel is used for the bracket i.e. is it 20mm x 3m...

Re: Tool recognition
The centre tools are coil spring compressors for vehicle springs as Chris suggests. Not sure if they are homemade but you can buy the exact same items from most tool shops in the UK.

Test fit of bonnet
I am planning to test fit the bonnet during my TC rebuild and have a quick question. The rubber strip that the bonnet sits on next to the scuttle - does this strip just push up tight against the scuttle or does the notch mean it should actually sit on top at the rear? Any close-up pictures would be ...

Re: Wiring Loom Fittings
Got mine at Stoneleigh - they threw in a dashboard loom and all the clips I could think of at the time. Definitely an easy company to deal with. Keep in touch re the loom fit as it is one of my next jobs.

Re: Wiring Loom Fittings
Hi Steve - I got a new loom from Autosparks (just down the road from you really) and they supplied most of the clips that I will need (haven't fitted it yet and will still need a few additional clips). The octagon club carry some clips and also the fuel line ready made up (Pete is still filling emai...

Re: Unleaded Conversion??
I had mine done at the same time as the head was skimmed - it wasn't too much to get it done at the same time and the lapping in of the valves was better than anything I could have done at home (I have been building engines for 45 years but don't have the tooling that the engine shops have). I had t...

Re: Rebuilding XPAG 9204
Hi Steve, I used G Bland and Sons at Barnsley for all my engine machining last year. They were excellent and went to great lengths to get everything right. I had to have my block line bored for new bearing caps and the cam bearings fitted and bored as they were missing from my spare block (original ...

Hi Guys. My carb spindles looks just like yours but I read that the W clips should be at 90 degrees to each other to allow for slight misalignment. Anybody know for sure?

MG TC radiator shell nose piece
Hello again, I am trying to trial fit the false nose to the radiator shell on my TC and wonder if there should be a spacer or something to stop the badge from pulling the false nose up against the shell too tightly. I seem to have a small S shaped bracket but not sure if this is from a previous owne...
