Re: Machining old rear hubs for tapered Halfshafts

I've done it on 2 TC's, Kam...tell your machinist it's a #4 Morse taper...he'll have, or should have, the proper taper cutter in the shop. I'm not an expert on rear hubs but I've never heard of one cracking and you're not really taking that much more meat out of the hub than the hole that's already ...

Tim, it's a slotted screw on the TC but not sure of the thread. I bought captive nuts at HomeDepot and used them...who's going to know?

Pat,

On both of my cars the angle is about the same as yours...I wouldn't worry about it.

Welcome Kam...

And I'm on your side...modernize while keeping the original appearance. No one will know unless you tell them.

P.S. - Please tell me your TC isn't really purple :wtf:

I've got one of his original signed copies...my daughter bought it for me for Christmas 1991. That copy has been all over the States helping TC owners!

Re: TC overheating a repeating topic, sorry!

Tone, If the timing doesn't help then it's possible that you (or your mechanic) installed the head gasket front to back - it fits perfectly both ways - but if installed backwards it will block most of the water flow from the block to the head by blanking off the rear water passage. You can easily ch...

I don't have a Shorrock on my TC so not able to help you there but if you google MG TC Shorrock you'll find a number of cars with them...maybe some of the photos will be of help?

Re: XPAG

I shipped an XPAG back and forth between Mississippi and Abingdon Spares in Connecticut several years ago via FedEx. Cost was about $150 each way...not out of line for the weight. Double boxed it, not on a pallet, arrived safely. Al Moss sent me one from Arizona for about the same cost...again, doub...

Re: Replacing rotten floorboards

Yes, you can...there's only a few screws holding them in place. I don't recommend you attach your seat belts to the floorboards though unless they only have to be there for looks and not safety...although how much safety can there be in a TC?

mgtamike - you're correct - I meant double the current capacity, i.e., the drain on your batteries will be halved (shared across both instead of one).

Re: TA Battery Replacement

Phil... Check your battery connections...ensure they're clean and that the cables are tight and not frayed - in addition to checking the starter switch. It sounds as if you've got a voltage drop somewhere in the system. You can always buy another 12V battery and wire it in parallel with the existing...

Re: TC wheel arch and rear quarter panel fit

Tim, Put the inner wheel arches in place, then install the rear quarter panels so that the lip of the quarter panel covers the join of the wheel arch and the wood. You can add some drip seal to the lip of the quarter panel to seal the area. As far as I know there are no sketches of where the nails g...

Re: Why does my TC flywheel not fit the crank locating pins?

Hey Pat...if you leave the locating pins out you've got a hell of an area for the oil from the rear main to escape. Been there, done that...didn't see the need to "locate" the flywheel with the 4 bolts in place!
