Wanted - TC seat covers

I'm looking for some late TC leather seat covers. I'm posting this here as well as in the swap meet section as this area seems to be visited more. Apologies if this is not ok. I'm not too bothered about the colour as my intention is to restore and recolour them anyway. As to condition, they need to ...

TC Leather Seat Covers Wanted

I'm looking for some late TC leather seat covers. I'm not too bothered about the colour as my intention is to restore and recolour them anyway. As to condition, they need to be restorable, so creasing and some wear is ok, but no rips or tears. I'm based in the UK so I would imagine that posting cost...

TC Rear Inner Wheel Arch Fixing

I have a question for which I should have probably taken some photos, but I'll try to describe it without and see where I get. Firstly, due to lack of space, I'm building the body tub on the chassis rather than on a separate jig. As most of you will know, the body irons bolt to the chassis through f...

Re: MG TC bulls horns dimensions

Hi Ian, I think that the tolerance on the bulls horns left something to be desired. With mine, one side is just right, but on the other, the 'arm' that projects from the face of the wood is about 4-5mm too short. This doesn't sound much but its enough to have a big impact on the fit of the inner whe...

What have you found?

I was taking the old wood out of a TC door yesterday and behind the wood I found these two car park tickets. I guess that they must have fallen in behind the door card. For those of you not based in the UK, Keswick is in the lake District in the North West of England. The tickets place the car that ...

Re: Door to metal spacing

Thanks guys, as usual that's really helpful. I'll let you know how I get on. I've done enough now to know exactly where the front door posts have to be. Pictures to follow of the completed stage 3 wood build in due course.

Door to metal spacing

I am in the process of hanging my doors. I've set a 1/4" gap all around (wood to wood) to set the 'hole' that the door fits in as recommended in TCFE, but I have a question with regard to the rear edge of the door where it overlaps with the rear quarter panel. How much of the gap should be left betw...

Re: Moss seats for TC

Hi Norman, I think that I agree with you. If you look at the shadows and where the light falls on the two images, its identical, suggesting that they are the same image but processed differently. By the way, has anyone tried to restore an old set of leather seat covers. I was at a car show the other...

TC Tub Rebuild Thread and Questions

I thought that I would start a new thread about my continued rebuild of my TC tub. This follows on from last year where I had got to stage 3 (as defined in TCFE) but then got stuck due to a missing door hinge (now sourced) and giving a door to someone to repair and then not getting it back for month...

Re: Primer paint for a long project

Thanks for the advice, I was wondering about using zinc 182 myself. Your car is looking good, I'm particularly envious of the shut lines on your doors as I'm building the front end of my frame now and have just trial mounted the doors in order to position the front posts. I feel like I need about 3 ...

Re: Primer paint for a long project

Steve, I was wondering how you were getting on. We keep meaning to pop down for an open day, but we've always got something else on. Why not cover the bare metal with an oil or grease to keep the water away then clean off with Acetate (or is it Acetone (I can never remember which is which) when you...

Re: Primer paint for a long project

I don't know what you have available over there, but typically real epoxy primer is a two part concoction, paint with activator and this requires a spray gun. It's not the lowest cost approach, but it is possible to buy genuine 2K epoxy primer in a rattle can in the UK. The cans have two chambers a...

Primer paint for a long project

Hi Guys, Having had a very frustrating summer last year with my TC restoration, I am hoping to make much more progress this year - updates will be posted in due course. This year, I am likely to end up with several bare metal panels as I move on from the wood frame to restoring the doors and putting...

Re: Side screen box

As mentioned, its wider than the chassis, but its only bolted to the chassis with the rear two mounting bolts. Tricky to access but you may get away with just taking those bolts out, slackening the four the go through the body irons and then just raising the rear of the body by a couple of inches wi...

Equivalent Parts Between Models

MG YA and YB's used XPAG engines but were obviously structurally very different cars than TA/B/C's. Does anyone know whether the YA/B radiators where the same as TC radiators?

Re: TC rear door pillar and over wheel arch profile

I went out and took a look at mine and did a little measuring. Pretty flat at the top as best I could tell perhaps a tiny slope as you get to elbow rail and maybe a touch going toward the rear corner. My timbers were new from Moss and were very good, and the rear quarter panel was repaired, the ori...

TC Dashboard Position

I'm currently doing my first fix of the front half of the wood frame on my TC (pictures to follow). One of the critical areas to get right is the inner dashboard and the scuttle top. I need to position the scuttle top with respect to the inner dash to allow just the right amount of space for the out...
