Re: Rear view mirrors.

Aftermarket motorcycle mirrors often have stems like jd is talking about. If you are offended by prices on aftermarket mirrors marketed for TC's. look at a place like this and you will be really offended. This is just a random example of countless offerings in the "mirror" search. https://www.jpcycl...

Re: TC Battery Box

Tim, you must have great faith in the durability of the insulation on that wire running from one battery terminal to the other! I like to run a large lead/acid battery. A 24 fits nicely, and the built in handle allows easier in/out with the bonnet in place. This battery has 650 cold cranking amps an...

Re: Bishops cam oil level

TC calls for GL4 140 weight gear oil in the 4spd transmission, the differential, and in the steering box. Only place I use it is in the steering box. I check the level by unscrewing the 3 bolts and removing the top plate and shims. That gives a good opportunity to check the top plate for any unusual...

You could always do a light dressing of the fiber washers with Hylomar blue. Permatex 95420 is the permatex version of the (non-silicone) Hylomar blue.

Re: Carb Thread Repair

Why introduce a "rubber" part to a system that is designed to be leak free without it? "Rubber" will dry up and be useless at some point in time. Also, that joint you are talking about is intended to be moveable or slightly adjustable. 5 years from now when you are re-adjusting the float bowl level ...

Re: pinion nut torque

Of course that is the fill level plug/hole on the driver (right) side of the diff. The fill plug is on the other side. The ring gear is submerged in the oil reservoir and therefore constantly lubes the head of the pinion shaft. Whenever the car is driving forward, the ring gear acts as an oil slinge...

Re: Moss QC

Got some of their steering box top plate shims several years back and they were not even made of metal. Those shims must be metal. I also got a new top plate at the same time (actually got 2) and it was very good quality with hard chrome applied on the (lightly crosshatched) working side.

Nice progress, but keep in mind that at speed there will be wind buffeting if the finished roofline is flat (as it appears in latest pic).

Re: guide pins for Moss dif pinion cap

What double row ball bearing will you be using? I may have used a light dose of Hylomar blue on the flat part of the cap where the six holes are. You don't want any squeezing out and getting to where the bearing is, especially if you use silicone sealant (God forbid). I used nothing on the re-used s...

Re: guide pins for Moss dif pinion cap

#34 should be screws. The carrier all comes out as a unit. Cannot just replace cap/seal without removing the whole unit. The pinion bearings are a maintenance item, and when using the original scroll seal cap one of the first symptoms of worn bearings would be notable leaking past the cap "seal." A ...

Re: Lowering TC?

Will, not sure what your problem might be. Pictures are always helpful to determine what you are dealing with. Use lower resolution settings to be able to load onto this website. TC with BC box and all the correct and standard plumbing should give you right around 7/8" clearance. Note the blue ear p...

Re: Supercharger Carburation Issue

Is your needle valve shutting of properly when engine running? Sounds like you are within range of fuel height below bridge, but you could go another 1/16" lower? Also important to check "jet drop." Forget about fork setting and number of flats. (Though 9 flats sounds close) Set it up according to t...

Re: TC water temperature guage

Considering that the TC did not come with any temp gauge, any temp gauge would be aftermarket. The stock radiator does have a place for a (aftermarket) probe to be installed, and is a suitable enough location -- unless you are experiencing significant coolant loss. Usually a bourdan type mechanical ...

Re: TC water temperature guage

Not sure why the interest in aftermarket temp gauges on a TC. I have never seen a coolant temp higher than 180F on a long & hard drive when ambient temps were well above 100F. Highest temp I have ever seen with infrared heat gun during or after a long hard drive was 150F for engine oil and 130F for ...

Re: MG TA1932 in Germany - Blog - all problems and ...

Franz- If the TA front hubs are like the TC front hubs, they have a habit of wearing out where the inner bearing fits into the hub. You need to check for play of the inner bearing after it is pressed in. When the front hubs are worn like that, nothing will fix it properly, except for replacent of th...

I keep a piece of wood with a round hole through it in the TC. For jacking from under the differential. To protect the bottom drain plug. Works wonders.

Re: Removing rear wheels

Appears he had jacked from under the diff, and was wondering if it would be easier to remove the wheels if he instead jacked from the chassis rail on one side. ...
