Re: Dash and Gauges

There's always one guy out there who reads and notes the obvious! :) Like we can't see the trees for the forest syndrome!!! :? Definitely not a Standard TC gauge, you read oil and don't notice the ℃ symbol. DUH! No wonder it has the coupling nut only at the engine. Sorry tcremesal , It had to wait f...

Re: Dash and Gauges

Then absolutely, if there is no disconnect coupling nut at the gauge, then disconnecting the coupling at the engine is right and proper. I've never seen an oil gauge with a captive oil line but I suppose they were made. Maybe someone else can weigh in on that. Certainly, Craig Seabrook at the Whitwo...

Re: Two piece Oil Filter cannister - replacement elements

Some "originality" items were meant to be upgraded from 1930's and 1940's technology. The antiquated oil filter is one of them. I'm having my Furneaux supplied spin-on adapter black anodized and the FRAM filter is already black. Walla!, they disappear into the background very nicely. I'm also having...

Re: Two piece Oil Filter cannister - replacement elements

Yes, I know you sold yours and I recently sold another unit that I had. However, I was asked on a second unit I had for sale about "generics" over the Moss $70 element. I have hit a brick wall as well after thinking that I had seen a cross reference list at one time in the past. That being said, the...

Two piece Oil Filter cannister - replacement elements

Hello All: Does anyone know if there are commonly available filter elements for the two piece oil filter aluminum canister (REF: Moss #435-380)? I thought I had seen a listing at one time that gave FRAM, NAPA or PUROLTOR numbers that could be purchased at the local auto parts outlet store rather tha...

Very Nice addition Don. Could be my eyes or an illusion but are those tires standard 4.5 x 19" or wider and smaller?

Re: door timbers

I totally agree on "some fiddling" to make things fit, but 1/2" gaps and total lack of contour is not "fiddling". Craig Seabrook's' wood needs 'fiddling" some of my Abingdon wood is good for kindling to light the fireplace as is. The best compliment I can give is that the hinge pillar bears a remote...

Re: door timbers

Hello Ian: I'm just refitting door timbers on TC5141. I purchased them from Abingdon Spares and am not totally happy with the way they fit. The top and bottom timbers seem to be OK but the fore and aft timbers do not fit the door profile at all. In fact, I would have to hammer the door hinge timber ...

Re: Painting TC Wood Frame

Steve: None of the wood I've seen on TD's, TF's and my own TC was painted. Mike S. in his book also states that the wood from the factory was almost for sure untreated. He states that he gives his wood "liberal" coats of Red Oxide Primer which in Australia may be something quite different from what ...

Re: TCs Forever Correction Sheet

I would agree if the errata sheets were in and of themselves stand alone commodities! However, the book is clearly copyrighted on the first page by Michael Sherrell and Mike's Garages and therefore the included errata sheets would be automatically covered by the same copyright. I'm no legal beagle b...

Duncan: My scanner is not working so I sent Tom a hard copy of the latest 5th edition 4 errata pages through the mail. Send me a self addressed stamped envelope and I'll do the same for you. Don't know how Mike S. would feel about have portions of his book posted in our resource section. It lends to...

Keep the info and pics coming Steve, I'm close behind you on TC5141. Info and experiences from others are priceless! Where did you source your wood. My compound curve and more detailed body wood is from Craig Seabrook, I made all the straight cut and plywood pieces. Door wood from Abingdon Spares. I...

Re: MGB Fan

I have modified the MGB 6-bladed metal fan (1968 thru early 1973) to fit the T-Series water pump pulley. It requires some machining skills or access to machining sources. It is neither complicated nor expensive. Does not invade the open space between the fan and radiator core any more than the origi...
