Re: TC Differential housing
The entire flange with the ring of holes for bolt that attach the entire pumpkin to the housing needs to be made thinner because the half shaft centers fall a little behind the centers of the spiders. Unfortunately, because the alloy flange becomes thin, it is necessary to have a steel ring made tha...

Re: TC Differential housing
Hi Tim, If you expect to cruise above 60 MPH, I suggest that you take this as an opportunity to improve the drivability of your TC by changing the differential ratio. I am very pleased with having converted to a Morris 4.55. Information about the change can be found in Terry Sander's article, "Pumpk...

Turn on the headlights and see if the lights get brighter when you rev the engine.

Crankshaft Pulley Oil Seal Replacement.
My crankshaft pulley oil seal (modern "lip seal") is leaking. Is there room to remove the pulley and replace the seal without removing the radiator, engine, etc.? Any hints?
Thanks, Norman

Re: Half Shaft Fit
This leads me to wonder why the fit at the hub end needs to be so tight, since both ends of the half-shaft transmit the same amount of torque. Is it because the hub end needs to keep the shaft from lateral slippage? Why did they not just use a pin, clip, or set screw instead of such a tight fit? Or,...

Re: Anyone here done the VW Steering box converstion?
I installed a Bud Silvers conversion on TC/6864 about 5 years ago. I am very pleased with the quality, the ease of installation and the ultimate handling of the car. The kit does not provide a collapsible steering column, but I accept that driving a TC is inherently dangerous. I believe that Bud has...

Re: A viable alternative to the stock shock bushings
I have used a hose clamp to compress the bushings for insertion. Works great.
Re: TC Gauges
I had my clock rebuilt by Jaguar Clocks (jaguarclock.com). $75. It has been keeping accurate time for about three years.

Re: Oil Pump Priming
I purchased flexible oil lines from a provider on the list and had the same results, lower oil pressure. I blew through the lines and realized that they had more resistance than the steel lines. The new lines had a smaller internal diameter which restricted the flow. I did not feel comfortable runni...

Re: Possible modifications to your car
Here are some additional mods: Alfin brake drums (I believe essential) Grunau version. Conversion to negative ground to use modern accessories. Larger or auxiliary brake lights, often a large LED behind (or in front of) the spare tire. I believe that the combination oil pressure / temp gage is not o...

Re: My single carburetter TC
This may be of interest to you. My TC suffered from vapor lock. The usual; the engine would not restart on a hot day unless I waited for the carbs to cool off. I made some shields from a pattern that I found on the web, and they made things worse. I tried putting TF plastic spacers between the manif...

Re: Floorboards
I just cut new ones out of 1/2" or 3/8" MARINE plywood, and painted them with black rustolium. I used a jug saw and traced the old ones as a pattern. I rounded over the edges with a router. It was pretty quick and easy and the marine plywood may be better than what Moss supplies.

Re: Softer Springs?
Thanks Everyone, I think that my L. Front shock has been leaking fluid. However, that corner doesn't seem to act any differently than the other 3 corners. I will add fluid there, however. I thought that the ride would be softer with no fluid in the shock. I run 28-30 lbs. air pressure. I have spraye...

Softer Springs?
Hello All,
Has anyone ever tried to soften the ride of a TC? Not a good idea? Not possible?
