Re: TC Front Wing Support
I think the rubber grommet takes up that thickness. I'll take a look on Monday, not allowed in the workshop at the moment

Re: TC Front Wing Support
Difficult to understand the problem other than there is a thick rubber joint on the wing side. Fit the wing stay and the headlamp bracket is easy to fit, it's self explanatory, if you see what I mean. ed to add this. https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/pad-set-headlamp-bracket-to-wing-281-048.html These t...

Re: strength test for TC
Steve, It's easy to know it's 1/16", that's the amount the bonnet overlaps the edge :) I'm in Alfreton on 26th May have a rolling road session at Peter Burgess. I'm seeing if I can meet someone else (with a B) for lunch so maybe, if you're free, you'd like to join in. I'm due at 0900 so should be fi...

strength test for TC
It's not my week is it. I may be getting a cctv clip of the following "incident" I went to Bawtry today to get a new inner tube in one of the TC wheels. I went in the TC. I found their place which is a unit in a place called Hudsons Yard, Hudson being a haulage company. I drove in and missed the sig...

Re: slow running cable
Tom, It's OK Trevor's been in touch and we've met before at a car meeting. He's bring the car round to me and I'll sort it for him. Actually mine doesn't work, it needs a better clip for the outer cable which moves instead of the inner. I don't really use it as I get the car started and drive off an...

Re: slow running cable
TC Trev, are you sure it's the cable? I notice you're in Yorkshire. We're in Royston, near Barnsley maybe we can meet up. There's a TA up at Castleford as well. If you want me to take a look I have a fully equipped workshop and was apprenticed when TC were fairly new and was taught on them (at Unive...

Speak to Linda at NTG (or speak to Mick if she's not there). Tell them I sent you and said you'd get 10% discount.

Re: Sump filter gasket.
It's the fitting of the rope ends that's the trick. We used to soak the rope in hot water and then press both ends into the groove leaving the ends sticking up and then fit the sump. We only applied red hermatite (the original, no longer available) to one side, the sump side. The benefit of the rope...

Re: Peter Edney/XPAG Developments
Martin, when I purchased from him the stuff came from Moss. As a matter of interest, The Moss rear lamps are crap. NTG get the same lamp from the same Chinese supplier but then get their electrician to modify them so the PCB doesn't fall off when you put a bulb in.

Re: Peter Edney/XPAG Developments
He was a Moss dealer and, I expect, having been in the motor trade for 56 years will get 25% discount from them. He is happy to pass on 15% of that whereas Moss will only give 10% if you join their rebuild club thingie. That's great but if he hasn't time to deal with orders it's of little value. I w...

Re: Peter Edney/XPAG Developments
I fell out with him when he was supposed to ship parts for my TC rebuild. They didn't arrive and it took me 6 weeks to get an answer. His reason: "I had a car to finish and didn't have time to answer the phone" I asked why he didn't respond to my emails and the answer was "oh, I don't read them, the...

Re: TC bonnet vents
I fitted MGA plastic heat blocks (and longer studs) to the carb/manifold. Mainly to stop the heat warping the flanges but they also seem to keep the heat off the carbs so I never had hot starting problems. The car was in France for its first year post rebuild with regular temperatures of 30c and nev...

Re: TC bonnet vents
My experiments with my Caterham suggest that at high speeds the air pressure on the bonnet stops any air from the engine compartment from exiting through the louvres. My solution was to raise the rear edge of the bonnet which left a gap in front of the aeroscreen. The air seems to be sucked out. It ...
Re: TC tyres
Just to say that mine are the Ensigns which Longstone say are the dunlop pattern.
Re: TC tyres
As I wanted to keep as much originality I got the Dunlop equivalent from Longstone. I don't drive the car like a loon, I have other cars for that
