I wiped it clean and when next stopped wet again The passenger side has always weeped a bit to leave inside of rim damp with oil but drivers side never. I was...

Re: Grille repair
My car is now back on the road with freshly painted grille. Not much can be done about crack at bottom but all soldered up and with freshly painted bars is not to noticeable. The blue from heat has all polished out. Not sure if radiator is a later type as holes in top of grille dont match with holes...

8 inch lights
In my last post I mentioned that I would like to refit 8 inch lights to my TC. It is a late 49 model and I believe had cats eye pattern fitted. Currently my car has 7 inch lucas pre focussed glass and reflector combined. I have found a site that sells such lights pre focused with globe at very reson...

Re: Grille repair
Hi Ian ,attached are some pictures of progress.Shame that there is a visible crack but to have grille rechromed and polished would cost Aus $500 and the rest of it has a resonable finish. The money would be better spent on a nice drivers side mirror that is missing or replacing/repairing drivers sid...

Re: Smooth oil sump on a TC?
I was actually thinking of cutting some Tin or Aluminium to match shape of bell housing like a shield or a funnel cut in half down the middle and glueing with metal glue to bell housing in front of hole or trying to remove split pin out of hole and then threading a pipe into it to drain into catch t...

Re: Smooth oil sump on a TC?
My 49 TC has a ribbed sump which is a bit of a nuisance as the ribs prevent my drip tray that I purchased from mating hard up so oil drips from the hole in the bell housing between the ribs defeating the purpose of the catch tray. Oil also gets flung out the rear of the starter leaving a misty coati...

Re: heat shield
Hi Gene, My car never suffered from overheating, quite the opposite. When I fitted a temperature guage the best could reach was 60 degrees but leave it 5 minutes and would only start on 2 cylinders.Who would ever think it was running only on one carburettor. The car starts instantly now with little o...

Summer is just about over but thought I would post this article I wrote. My TC has had no problems with vapour lock now and have now fitted all new radiator hoses . I discovered my car had no thermostat either so now runs about 70 degrees constant although it always worries me at traffic lights but ...

Re: Need an image of the fuel over flow lines routing
picture of how messy my over flow pipes used to be. Thought I would also straighten up braided line while I was at it but it cracked inside . Very dangerous as could not see damage, just the smell of fuel spraying every where. Luckily motor was cold. I ended up replacing all hoses from fuel pump as w...

Re: Need an image of the fuel over flow lines routing
I often wondered how to correctly mount as well. When I fitted my new heat shield I looked at some photos and after straightening pipes up and re bending they ended up exactly the same length 1st go. I had no idea how they finnished at the bottom as they vibrated so may fit a similar bracket. By the...

Top radiator hose replacement
I have sucesfully installed my new heat shield and appears to have solved all problems so thought may as well tackle replaceing all hoses since hot weather has arrived. I discovered that the bottom branch pipe was just about eaten away and that my car had no thermostat what soever. Just as well syst...

Re: TC exhaust manifold finnish
So true,On my yamaha motor cycle i have to touch fins up at least once a year but as it is only touch up with the same coating is not noticeable. I am hoping this will be the same with the manifold as it is only tops that have lost their coating ,the rest is ok but is hidden by the new heat shield. ...

Re: TC exhaust manifold finnish
Found out that original finish was a sprayed aluminium so did a bit of shopping and the local auto shop actually had flat aluminium in a can so I have buffed old finish with a small dremmel and applied spray can contents by brush from a small jar over manifold. As most of the original was ok i am ho...

TC exhaust manifold finnish
My new heat shield has just arrived and seems a shame to install when it is gleaming and shiny against an old manifold that is part bare cast iron on top corners I am reluctant to disturb as it does not leak and the thought of a stud breaking as well. The old finnish originally appeared white but on...

My single carburetter TC
Having owned my TC for just on 2 yrs and being constantly plagued with vapour lock problems thought that I would finally order a heat shield. In preperation I re ajusted the braided fuel line so that it was further from the exhaust manifols and even on both sides only to discover that on start up it...
