Re: Brake fluid
I fully agree with the above. While I don't use it in the TC, I do use it in several other cars including MGA, MGB and MGC. The only downsides I've found are a bit more difficulty bleeding, and cost / availability.

Re: 'water on the head', no not that one, the cylinder head!
I meant to ask if this was a stock head or aluminum. If aluminum, there is almost definitely a porosity issue.

Have you re-torqued the head?

Re: Rebuilding TC5560
The tonneau bar is black. The sliders are supposed to be on a separate bracket so someone has customized yours. The slider bracket mounts below the tonneau bar. See attached photo.

Re: 30 mph light
For those of you living in speed camera land, note that the 30 lamp can also be modernized by adjusting the trigger range so that it lights at the current legal speed limit instead of 30 MPH. The adjustment is made inside the speedometer.

Re: 30 mph light
I believe 30 MPH lamps were fitted to all home market cars. TC8975 has one installed. A map light is no more useful, since it's behind the steering wheel on the driver's side, which is awkward and perhaps even dangerous to use while driving. The passenger side lamp is easier to use for both driver a...

Re: front and rear wheel cylinder mounting bolt sizes?
Oops, reading too fast and thought it was a question about fronts. I should stop browsing the web on a mobile phone. I agree rear are different and 5/16-24 sounds familiar.

There's an original owner, never restored TC in our club. Next time I see him I will check the padding.

TC8975 Steve Simmons
TC8975 is a home market car. I don't know anything of its early history but one original license plate remains (KTF 791) and tells us that it was first registered in Lancashire. In 1970, Jack Benson of New York, USA was traveling through Europe and spotted the car for sale. He drove it there for a w...

I don't recall any difference in the shell. Not sure about the radiator but possibly the angle of the inlet?

Re: Hand-Crank shaft lengths
I can report the overall length of a TC crank at 24" for home market, and 27 to 28" for EXU. Not sure what that relates to when measuring from the bend but it's a start. If it's shorter, it could be darn near anything since many vehicles used the same crank handles. Austin, M.G., Healey, etc. The co...

Re: XPAG Oil pressure fluctuation
I wouldn't expect a lot of pressure at under 2500 RPM, but that is a bit of a swing. I would be tempted to remove and inspect the bypass valve to ensure oil isn't leaking past the ball. Hopefully the oil pump was rebuilt by someone who knows what they are doing. The body and cap should be surface gr...

Re: Distributor movement
I had that happen on a couple distributors in the past. You definitely don't want the body moving because it can greatly affect timing each time it moves! Once I had to wire mine in place while on an extended tour, until I got the car home where I could deal with it. Since it needed a rebuild anyway...
