New natter group (UK)
Not sure there are any owners in the area: South Yorkshire NE Derbyshire North Lincolnshire East Yorkshire North Nottinghamshire If so we are starting a new natter venue near Doncaster. Details are at www.syocc.club and I would ask you to complete the membership form so I can build a register of mem...

Re: Dashboard Rebuilding
OK, I'll have a search in the morning. Be great if you can join us at Critch, it's the Chesterfield MG group. I'll probably be the only one in a TC. I'll email you about the paint.

Re: Dashboard Rebuilding
Steve, the two lamps are same colour. If yours are tan I may have the tin of paint left over, I'll look later. (ed to add, I now see they are, I'll look for the paint) You need to make sure the curvature of the windscreen mount panel is the same as the dash, mine isn't quite and if I look I can see ...

Re: Dynamo Testing (TC)
Steve, do the test to see it spins, It's very easy to remove the dynamo when the engine is running and NTG can get it overhauled in a couple of days. To check a dynamo - disconnect the wiring, then join the two connections on the dynamo together with a bit of wire - rig a jump lead from earth to the...

Re: wiper motor wire
Mark, can you not use the existing wire to pull a new one through. It may need the wires soldering together to get it through as a knot would be too big.

Re: Spark Plug Thread Size
Agreed,
There are only 3 sizes, 10mmm, mainly for race engines, 14mm for the vast majority and 18mm for tractors/industrial engines.
Or are there more that I've missed?
STEVE, I've got a tap, don't go buying one for a one time use. I can drop it down tomorrow if you want.

Mine had sat in a damp garage for 47 years and it came apart with no problem. It makes a huge honk, not that I ever use a horn

Re: Clutch cover and pressure plate
Steve, on the basis that to replace it means engine out, I would fit new pressure plate, centre plate and release bearing. Also check the fork that the RB fits to is free and not bent. I will be going past on Sunday afternoon, If I'm not running really late do you want me to pop in. (if so email you...

Re: TA Rear Axle Hubs
Rob, when when these cars were made the only thing a torque wrench was used for was heads and cranks. I have a few old manuals lying about and none have torque reading for anything but engine bolts and screws.
Re: tc clock
Hi Trev, Make sure it's an electronic unit (quartz, I think) and not a refurbed clockwork one.
JDO is electronic.
I'm sure someone sold the quartz unit as a kit you could fit yourself.
Mine's fine, it's correct twice a day which is more than I am

Re: Off topic long shot.
Ray, if I remember correctly the M type had two small flat screens joined in the centre to make a V shape. I don't think they were curved glass although the V shape made a curve, if you see what I mean.

Re: Off topic long shot.
Myself and Chris Mumford (son of owner of Mumford Motors, Devon and Cornwall) rebuilt an M Type whilst apprentices at University Motors in the early 1960s. That was MG 23 reg number. It's still around. I thought all M types had V shaped split screens, is the picture of your car before full restorati...

Re: strength test for TC
I hope you're right about the body moving forward and not a bent chassis. I'll know tomorrow when I'm allowed out to play :) My first thought was the rad had bent the stay bars as it was jolted back with the impact. I guess it could have been worse and maybe I was going faster than I though as the c...

Re: strength test for TC
Steve, it may be a bent chassis but if so I would expect the doors to be out of alignment and they're not (or don't seem to be).
I may have been lucky as the car was moving forward so the impact was more of a glancing blow than a direct drop.

Re: strength test for TC
ray, somehow I think they've survived. I drove it home, about 30 miles and there's no wheel wobble, which I'd have thought there would be if they were buckled. I'll have it up in the air Monday morning so will see if they are still running true.
