Yes, once it's unbolted, you can drop the shaft out of the way

Re: guide pins for Moss dif pinion cap

Welcome! Can you post a photo of the issue? I don't recall ever seeing pins at the cap, just four nuts to remove the housing, and the two aforementioned screws to remove the cap. Once the four nuts are removed, the assembly is extracted and then the two screws are removed from behind, which allows t...

Mine have held up extremely well so I'll be curious to see how yours hold up in harsher conditions.

Re: TA Body Tub Timber Construction Pictures

I used regular gloss black POR15. It soaks into the wood grain and dries rock hard (but is still flexible), preserving the wood and making it impervious to water, oil, brake fluid or anything else you can throw at it, including a hammer. If the wood is not new and has oil or any other contaminants o...

Re: TA Body Tub Timber Construction Pictures

I've had very good luck coating wood floorboards with POR15. It soaks into the grain and is pretty much permanent, chemical resistant and hard as a rock. It might work well for body timbers as well.

Re: Tc fuel gauge

I remember someone on this forum looking into doing it, but I'm not sure if he ever found a sending unit that would work. The low fuel light comes on at around 2 gallons remaining as I recall.

No problem! Usually your gallery app has an option in the menu to resize an image. I'm happy to resize and send them back though.

Hi Mick, if you're on a mobile device, they all have a way to resize as well. If you have trouble finding it, you can email them to me and I'll resize them for you.

Re: TC Tickford (Actually TA)

I realize this topic is over 16 years old, but I just ran into Tad Hutchinson's son. The wife and I were eating lunch on a restaurant patio and he saw our SA parked nearby. Somehow he knew it was ours and struck up a conversation. He said his father was banned from showing his cars in what I think w...

Re: TA Body Tub Timber Construction Pictures

Hi Mick, welcome! The maximum file size was 2mb and 3200 pixels but I've just doubled that to 4mb and 6400 pixles. Try attaching again and if your photos are still too big, try resizing them a little smaller before attaching. This saves people time and bandwidth when checking the forum on a mobile d...

Re: TA Body Tub Timber Construction Pictures

My knowledge of the construction method of that area is limited, but I would be surprised if the basic assembly was notably different from MMM through TD, just because M.G. tended to stick with what worked. But that's purely conjecture on my part.

Re: TA Body Tub Timber Construction Pictures

Have you checked TCs Forever? There are wood dimensions in there, so you may be able to match what you have to TC, which would prove that piece is the problem. TA of course has at least two different sizes which I are both different (narrower) than TC.

Re: TA Fule pump

I believe that TA through TC all use the AUA25 pump. The only difference I'm aware of is brass versus aluminum base. It's an L-Type pump running at 1.5 PSI. The original points type pumps are not polarity sensitive, but if you get an electronic pump then polarity will matter. TC is positive ground l...

Here are photos from that area on a totally original (as far as I know) TC body. I passed this body along last year so unfortunately I can't get any more photos of it but maybe these will help?

I haven't used them personally since I'm on the other side of the pond, but the pre-war guys seem to be very happy with All Metal Polishing. He's a pre-war MG guy himself so he understands the cars.

Re: 5-speed conversion for a 1937 TA

I'd think that any old school transmission shop could do it. They really aren't that complex. The only challenge is finding certain parts. We're rebuilding a TC box right now. We had it apart in about an hour, although my "helper" has rebuilt countless old British gearboxes so it's going much faster...

Re: 5-speed conversion for a 1937 TA

The easiest way to tell the difference is by the aluminum extension on top. Here are photos of TA (found on the web) and TC.

No experience with 5-speed in a TA, sorry!

I have record of TC5132 as being in Canada as of 2009 with a TD engine installed. Perhaps the frame survived?
