JD, a chassis number or reg number may help

If you didn't take the photo then my first guess would be an Australian car because they're the only ones who seem to like tube shock conversions on TCs.

Apparently the chassis number is , TC 0242

Engine number is , XPAG9404.

Sign on windshield appears to say TB. 0242 is invalid for a TB or a TC.

Indeed, car numbers started at 0251. Maybe it's 8242?

I dont suppose there is someone in the Corvallis 97330 Oregon, USA area that could check the car out? I`m suspicious that the car may be part of a scam and not all it`s supposed to be.

If it is any help, XPAG9404 was originally supplied in TC8771.

Can you give us any further information, or photos? There are indeed VERY convincing T-series scams out there, so do beware. Any further information can help us determine the nature and status of the car.

The fact that the email eminates from a Maxwell Criddle in Corvallis who supposedly is selling for a customer and although he has supplied a phone number at $3000 seems suspiciously cheap. I`ve yet to request more photos etc. and although interested I would be quite happy for a genuine enthusiast to do a deal having already 2 TFs and a TC the later awaiting a rebuild. However as you rightly say there are scams about but who knows it may just be genuine. Being in the UK it`s difficult for me to follow up. Hence the request to try and locate someone to check it out if possible

That seems way too cheap, and you're right to suspect a scam. When it's too good to be true, it's easier to scam people out of their money. There are many TCs in that condition selling for more like $10-12K USD.

Fully agree Steve. Have made contact with a MG owner who I hope may help. I fully agree but one never knows and if nothing else it will diswade the culprit from exploiting the MG world. On the other hand if and it`s a big IF it is genuine then it will be a shame not to see the car if not in mine but an enthusiasts hands.

XPAG9404 (assuming its TC) was originally in TC8771 in Australia. I am not sure that this car has survived.

With help and information from US guys the sale appears to be just a scam.
