TA brake light switch

Post by martinjames » Mon Dec 02, 2019 3:18 pm

The switch mounted on the chassis is horizontal. The spring running to the pedal is angled downwards and there is not enough pull when applying the brakes to pull the flat peice of steel out far enough to actuate the brake lights. has any one had this problem?

If the TA is the same as the TC, I am not sure the spring should be at a downward angle. There should be two parallel springs; one from a small hole at the bottom of the brake pedal and hooked around the switch mounting flange ...and above it another, smaller, spring which goes from a point on the pedal (just above the fulcrum point) to the switch operating tang.

I don't believe this arrangement to be anything but a lash up ...but it is reliable and works pretty well.
