Replacement TA Batteries

It appears the batteries on my 1936 TA may have died. been on charge all week and still no output.
Current batteries are 2 off Yuasa YBX6421 6v 250 CCA amps 56 Capacity Ah.
These do not appear to be available anymore, therefore asking for recommendations for replacements or convert to 1 off 12v battery.

Converting to 12v is easy to do and batteries are available everywhere. I use a single type 063 in my V8 in place of the two originals, and even with the long length of cable there is no problem. It is small enough to fit in the 6v battery holder. I also use a 063 in the TC, and the battery box is big enough to hold a screw jack and two blocks of wood as well.
Some people fit two 12v batteries in parallel for extra "oomph" but this should not be necessary.

All my cars that originally came with two 6V are converted to a single 12V battery. It's cheaper, the batteries are better quality, you save a bunch of weight and gain room for tool and spares storage. Unless you're after absolute originality then I recommend this route. In my TC, I use a Westco AGM battery as found in early MX-5. It's small, and half the weight of a typical car battery.

Just another thought, I am a Miata owner and have owned several of the early cars that used the AGM batteries. The original Panasonic that was supplied with these cars was very good and long lasting but this is not necessarily the case with current AGM replacement batteries which tend to be a bit fragile and are sometimes difficult to recharge if a car is sitting for a long while. Many of us have gone to the 51R which is a standard wet cell with more output and not a great deal larger than the Miata AGM fitting in the same space. This is standard equipment in various Hondas and in more recent Miatas. Just something to consider.
