Body Tub Finished (at last)

Post by SteveW » Sat May 09, 2020 7:09 am

I've finally finished the body tub. It will need to be flatted and any dings filled before final painting, but I have a lot to do before that. The tub is sprayed with 2K primer so it is preserved until I'm ready. As per my previous thread, some radical surgery was needed on the scuttle top to remove rust, filler and fibre glass and to get the alignment right with the bonnet hinge, but I'm happy with the results. The next job is to strip the engine and see what I find

Looking good, Steve.

I have those joys to come. All the body for my TC Is being outsourced except for that difficult panel which has a bit of rust but having always lived in Oz is not too bad.

Photos like this give me hope. I have a while before I get there, but it still scares me!

Hi Ray, you coward ! No honestly it is tricky but so satisfying ... eventually. I understand Andy Denton is making your body up then? When I can I'll add a few photos on my body build progress to go along side Steve's excellent work ...

Hello Chris. You will recall I also have an Austin Swallow saloon. I had to restore the Ash frame on that car and found it difficult to say the least so I have admiration for anyone who can tackle bodywork - and get it right.!
