Funny you should ask. When I bought TC2911 many years ago, I found that it was equipped with a leaky TD MC rather than the standard MC. The mounting brackets had been cut off and at the time repro TC MC's were rather pricey. I could have made up the brackets and welded them in, but instead I chose to use a Wilwood high volume MC which has been on the car now for almost 20,000 miles without issue. Plenty of fluid capacity, available in several bore sizes and rebuild kits are available if needed.

Thanks Stephen for that information. Any idea what bore size you installed. I must confess that for an item on the car hidden away and use my cars rather than worry to much about originality it seems a no brainer. Good price too compared with for example a Moss replacement.

I've heard of people converting to VW master cylinders and running extra lines for a dual circuit system, but never seen a TD MC mounted. They're bigger and heavier but basically do the same thing so I don't see a real advantage. Can your MC not be rebuilt? A rebuild kit is cheap.

Yes, it is 7/8". As I mentioned at the time had I had a TC MC core that I could have rebuilt or had sleeved, I would have done so and recreated the bracket to install. However I did not, so this was a reasonable alternative and works fine. The Wilwood MC allows several options for mounting that were convenient, in this case it was mounted via bolts through the frame rail and spaced as needed..

Firstly Steve- yes I`m sure it could be rebuilt however as the car I`m restoring has been off the road since 1956 so you can imagine the sort of state it`s in and so exploring other possibilities. If a rebuild kit whilst inexpensive could be well worth considering especially against a TC new one (Over £300 sterling) with the car down to bare chassis now will be an easy time to convert.
Secondly Steven thanks for the update especially the picture. Seems to physically fit in well.
