TC footrest

Post by Warmuthb » Mon Mar 24, 2014 6:43 am

Can anyone tell me if the passenger side footrest was original equipment on ALL TCs or just on the later EXUs?
Is it the same as those used on the TDs? How were they attached in the car?

Thanks,
Brian W.

Since neither of my non-EXU TC's have a passenger side footrest I'd have to assume that they were only provided on the EXU's...if they were provided by the factory at all.

I have a buddy who built a footrest for the passenger side. I believe you can find it in TTT2, about three years ago. I think it was titled how to make a coffin more comfortable, or something humorous like that. It should show up in the pictures.

Rick
I have tried to find the article you referenced, but no luck for me. Do you think you could find it and post a link here?

Thanks,
Brian W.

March 2008, which shows how my memory is failing to function as planned! One of the photos clearly shows the footrest.

Sorry Rick. No luck finding the article on TTT2 - only goes back to 2010. Maybe you can post a link to the article or give me a web address?
Thanks,
Brian W.

My mistake. It is TTT, not TTT2. The article was in Issue 26, from 2008.

That's not the type...factory foot rest I was referring to. Is there an original sheetmetal footrest fitted to TCs?
Thanks, Brian W.

What makes you think there is/was a footrest? As I stated above I've never seen a TC with a footrest and it's not listed as a difference between a normal TC and and EXU.

Gene:
I don't really know. Hence the reason for my query. I do believe however Sherrell mentions it in his book "TCs Forever" on page 224.... But I think he may use the terms firewall and footrest for the same thing, sort of confusing?

Mike Sherrell was referring to the footramp - the flat panel with the hole cutout for the gearbox that attaches to the bulkhead. What we call a bulkhead or firewall was called the "dash" by MG.
There were no footrests of any kind installed by MG in TC production; a footrest ramp showed up on the TD.

A TC owner here in Vancouver did make a very attractive and useful footrest for his TC. It show up in a picture in an old issue of TTT, I think it may have been in May, 2008.

If your shotgun rider has short legs, may make a significant increase in comfort.
