I have recently become the owner of a 1949 MG TC8168 repatriated back to the UK from Minnesota USA after 38 years. The MG was built on 15th March 1949, Green with beige interior, supplied new by University Motors Ltd in London and registered UML 270.
I have no other UK history on the car. I have traced 2 owners in Minnesota. the first owner I believe to be Kay Berg who owner the car from 1976 under the registration number AZD 022. A Jim Bailey from a local MG club worked on the car in the 1980's then Ron Neil under the registration 769-138 collector plate. I am trying to register the MG under its original UK number UML 270 but the DVLA say I have insufficient documents, they need UK registration documents, tax disc or mot certificate otherwise it will be registered on an age related number which would be a shame. I am trying to find any history possible on the car either from the UK or the USA to help register the MG under its original registration. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
