Let's talk about the TB for a few minutes!

Post by roger aumann » Wed Jul 15, 2015 8:44 pm

If all goes well later this year, I have plans to replace the beat-up cheap reproduction of a dash board in my TB later this year.
The question is this: Does anyone know exactly, or at least close, as to where the reserve/main gas shut off valve was originally located? I have seem photos of the valve on the dash about 6 or 7 inches one way or the other near the bottom right on the dash. Anybody know where it should be?

I have no personal knowledge but the Clausager book has a picture on p30 that shows it positioned just to the right of the tacho, with its bottom in approximate line with the bottom of the tach. It is the same location that the low petrol level light occupies in the TC (p47 and 48 in same book). Clausager also says the tap was black with white lettering.

Might be a dangerous assumption, but I would have thought it was in exactly the same position as the TA.....you may have more chance of finding one of these to check out.
Certainly, my TA over here in UK seems to have hers in the same place as my beloved old TB......UK reg ETD 181, if you are out there anywhere !

Mine is about 150mm (6 inches if you prefer) from the right hand end but of course the important part is that the control rod need to line up with the slot in the bulkhead.

Roger, the photo I sent you offline showing the gearshift knob (TB is just like the TC according to this photo) also shows the position of the fuel control.
