I'm going to be re-doing a TC clutch very soon, and would be grateful for a source for a higher-quality-than-Moss clutch. I understand that it is possible to modify things to use a Sunbeam Alpine clutch, but do not know what is involved, or if it is a satisfactory mod for a street car. All help appreciated.

Alpine clutch
Re: Alpine clutch
Tom
Back in 2008 I used the Alpine clutch in my supercharged TD.
At that time the heavy duty clutch was available from Sunbeam Specialties in California. Website is: http://www.rootes.com/
Last I checked they were out of stock on the clutch cover but you might check with them
If you find an alternate source, please let me know.
Thanks

Re: Alpine clutch
Thanks very much, Mark. Was any modification (like re-drilling) necessary to the flywheel? Was it JUST the cover, or the disc as well? Any throw-out bearing issues?
Many thanks.
Many thanks.

Re: Alpine clutch
The Alpine clutch uses three dowel pins so the flywheel has to be modified. Remove one of the originals and install two additional. The throwout bearing is also changed to a Midget 1500 I believe. Even after all this, the clutch pedal ratio will be way off, making the clutch far touchier and a lot of dead travel. But the clutch is a stronger design.
