Starter Finish

Post by TBrad » Sun Mar 04, 2018 2:01 pm

I’m ready to paint my new starter. Semi-gloss, satin or full gloss black?

I like the look of satin, and it seems to most closely resemble the original finish. A coat of clear over the stain gives it a bit more reflectiveness.

I have a owned a few of these old cars with engine parts; starters, generators and such that were unadulterated by rebuilders or previous owners and they seemed after years of use to a fairly dull satiny black. Certainly not full gloss but not flat. I would agree with Steve to be somewhere in between.........
