TC Brake Drums Needed

Post by Tom Lange, MGT Repair » Thu Apr 05, 2018 11:33 am

A customer can't afford to buy new Alfins, but his drums are already +.060, so the adjuster runs out of play and snaps back to zero.

Does anyone have any good, used TC drums? I DO need to know their diameter (9" was stock).

Thanks. Tom Lange

I have a set that I was told is near the end of its life, but I didn't measure them myself. If you can't find any, and these would get him by for now, let me know and I'll dig them out.

Why not simply install thicker bonded brake lining?

Well that begs the question of where the safe wear limit is for stock brake drums!

Sounds like the car must have had thicker pads, or some other sort of spacer, last time it ran.

I have a couple of sets of used drum. I will check the ID of them and get back to you. Drums are in CT but have a friend moving to Bar Harbor and drives up there often. Maybe I can talk him into taking the with him next trip of the drums measure out OK

Sorry for taking so long to get back. Measured a two last night and they are both around 9.30. Let me know if you want them and how many. You can have them for $20 each plus shipping.

Ed - thank you, but +.030 is right on the cusp of where I begin to be cautious. I have a couple of other people checking. Please send your contact info to me at tlange@acadia.net, so as noty to clutter up this excellent forum!
