Hallo
of course i am proud, it drives wunderful, the only problem was the fuel line,
today i take of the tank and wash it out, 100 times, dirt dirt dirt, no it is ok .
So i know now why the car doesn t run perfekt in the 4. more in another thread

If you have so much dirt I would (again) clean out the float bowls, which might have rust and sediment on the bottoms. You also have filters in each float bowl. Let us know if you need help.

Hallo
today i clean the engine and paint as good as it is possible in the car.
and than i find on the left side the MG Octagon , behind the generator
so it is an MG Engine not an Morrit or Woolsey

and a Number stamped to the block

on the right side there is the palte with XPJMI

i have read a lot, but don t find good information
other drivers here has the same problem

perhaps the pictures helps a little bit

Franz: The casting number 24445 shows that what you have is a later factory-exchange XPAG engine, with banana-shaped cooling passages, and NOT an XPJM engine from a Morris car. The tag could have come from anywhere, so I would ignore it.

Just above the brass plate is a small rectangular area, with the (original?) engine number stamped. Can you remove some of the paint and see what that number is?

For a long time it was cheaper and easier to replace the entire engine with a factory-exchange rebuilt unit, than it was to rebuild the engine. So, many TC and TD cars have these replacement engines rather than the original numbers-matching engine the car came with from the factory. These were just "old cars" for a long time, and nobody thought they would become important, collectible, or studied - engines were replaced so that the car could be driven to work, on holiday, and to school.

Your car is almost certainly a 1250cc engine that has been made more powerful with the addition of a Laystall-Lucas head, and other interesting modifications. Drive it! Ihr Wagen ist wirklich toll, und interessant!

i love my car, so the work on it is wonderful
yesterday i paint the engine and found the information
it is a part of history
here an other part of the story

the new carpet i get in the next days shows how i love the car, i have just to cut it,
i orderd it in the internet, only 5 Minutes of work
it will look great

some more Information
over teh brass palte there is a number when i take away the colour
it is
15761
is it a original engine from an other mg tc?

Franz - the only engine numbered 15761 that I can identify is XPAG/TD2/15761, originally in TD15383. That time-period matches your casting number of 24445. For what it's worth, that car is not listed in George Merson's TD list but many are not. I think it is safe to say that you have a 1250cc XPAG engine, removed from TD15383 and rebuilt as part of the factory/dealer exchange program, and then obtained from and/or installed by a dealer in your TC.

I am sure the XPJM tag is NOT the true engine you have in your car, and you can safely ignore it.
