Rear hood tacking strip question

Post by ian theobald » Mon May 28, 2018 2:51 am

Hi.I now have doors fitted again and will soon be taking to painters to have them painted along with rest of nody tub and dash.
Once done can finally install trim.
My question is that all my pictures show trim on hood timber folded over but on my car on the inside corners is a block of wood each side running diagonal.
If i remove then the inside corner is square and does not follow curve of timber.
Should there be a curved piece there?
My car had a section of ply in 3 pieces covered with material between the parcel shelf and hood timber.
As for door fitment. My new timber came with a rebate so had to fill rebate on body with new timber
Nothing is original but both doors now similar fit.
The drivers door I had to file away lead of dash where it meets but the door still finishs slightly forward underneath where as the passenger door almost flush but folded lip not as high at top edge so door looks lower when in fact the same height.
Will send some pictures later

This has a fairly good picture of what you should have at the corner:

Thanks .It is what I thought would be ,a section of timber with curve to match.
It seems the timber in my car has been screwed from outside so may have to split it to remove.
I was hoping that I could get a jig saw and cut it to shape but have the general idea.
The hood tacking strip has the wrong curve to outside of body on the corners so may as well redo that at the same time

I thought might add pictures of the tacking strip on the car.I have repositioned so the inside edge is flush but this leaves top of body tub exposed with nails visible.
I suppose would not be seen when hood attached and nailed
This timber is not original and wonder should it be wider to finnish neat with outside as well.
