Do TC frames sit level?

Post by Mitchman2 » Tue Aug 14, 2018 12:06 pm

I'd like to work on my frame at the proper attitude. I got it as a basket case and haven't got the foggiest idea if it sits level, or if it's nose up, by how much.

I can tell you the TD's down to the mm, but the TC's a different animal.

Aside from the front hump, does the frame at the cockpit area sit level?

I've always assumed the answer was yes but hopefully someone else will chime in and confirm or correct. I put a level on my car just now and it sits at a slight upward angle toward the front. But I wouldn't assume that's correct because I have 70 year old springs on it and I'm pretty sure the rear sags more than the front.

In this photo, the front of the car is to the left. It will give you an idea of the angle on my car. It's so slight that feel with new, correct springs it would sit level. But that's just a guess really. None of my diagrams so far have shown the specification on this, but I have more that I can dig out when I get time.

With level garage floor, the floorboards show the same as Steve indicates. And that is with only about 2 gallons of fuel in tank.

Thanks. That's close enough to get me 'close enough'.

I guess it's worth noting that my tank is about half full at the moment.

From the TABC list:
so much depends on the condition of the springs, and the amount of fuel in the tank would affect it as well. My guess is that it should be horizontal
Doesn't it depend on whether the tank is full or not?
seems highly unlikely frame would ever be level due to different tire pressures/diameters, spring wear/sag, etc. Too many variables. Chassis on some older TC’s flex so much going over a bump door almost opens.
