TC Clock--how does it start and how much can it be adjusted?

Post by timberstone » Wed Dec 26, 2018 7:14 am

After return from cleaning, the clock did not self-start when installed into the Tachometer and the wires were connected to the back.
Tried to start it by adjusting it and fidgeting with the stem or stalk, but it still would not start
Finally, took out the tachometer and shook it gently to start the clock and it started OK. Then it kept time and ticked audibly.
The stem or stalk seems to be so short that when the Tach is installed the stem or stalk is hard to reach and is hard to turn. Wonder whether there are longer stems or stalks for the TC clock?
Recently, the battery was disconnected due to an unexpected electrical malfunction and now want to restart the clock if possible without having to dive behind the instrument panel again.
Prior to the outage, the only electrical problems noticed were that the ammeter needle worked backward, so also wonder it the wiring polarity is backwards and if so whether that affects the starting of the clock?

If the wiring to the Ammeter has not been disturbed, then One would tend to believe you've answered your own question. Polarity!!!!! :)

I believe you have to press the stem all the way up to restart the clock.

Thank you both very much. I will check both suggestions for results and report.
