Front trim question

Good day .I now have dash fitted and piping down to rear bottom corners of body rub
I just want to know if the front trim panels overlap timber running down from engine bulkhead panel.
In my case the trim meets just in front and does not over lap.
I can always fit a couple of right angle brackets to screw if needed to help keep rigid.
Also hidem runs in one continuos length but think should be cut away each side of striker plate.
Am I correct.
Thanks Ian Theobald

You are correct that the front trim panels (also sometimes called "kick panels" because they are down where they get kicked frequently) should meet just in front of the bulkhead (also called "firewall" ?) timbers which will be plainly visible.
The hidem runs continuously but can be cut away at the striker plate.
Have tried to mash down the hidem so that the striker plate is not elevated while sitting on top of the hidem, but without much success.
Seems like there must be a way to prevent the inner stuff (is there a more descriptive word for this?) of the hidem from showing when the hidem is cut.
Have tried leaving the hidem a little long so the striker catches it enough to block the ends of the hidem stuffing but not so much that the strikers are raised by the hidem.

Thanks.in regards to the inner bits of hidem, just pull the plastic out a bit say 5 mm and snip off and push back in and then glue together.
I have read that originally off cut was folded over behind trim but in my case snipped off at door wedge before reading book I haddoes not mater as barely noticeable.
Only issue is body piping slightly fouls door striker mechanism and had to take one thickness of piping from under door striker to get door to shut.
It now shuts but not without a bit of a slam so need to shim door part ,just more playing around but at least drivers door a more looser fit.
Vary tiring and hard when most days have been mid to high 30s.
My garage faces West and cops full force of afternoon sun so as much as I like a sleep in have to get and do early
I hope to get in and drive the car as paid another 12 mths rego and so far has not been started.
A bit nervous after so long but all electrics now ok.
One of the trickiest jobs was fitting the 2 little chrome screws for chrome front bonnet cover.
Ended up gluing nuts to a washer and then holding washer with small pliers while testing the bonnet on my head so could screw from on top at the same time.
Perhaps originally the grill surround had a cage nut or 2 workers at the factory.
With that done I still try and not fold bonnets back as can see that grille flexs and no doubt crack in Time
Cheers Ian.

So far this is what have achieved.
Once complete hope to have paint repaired to guards and running boards but Mrs warns me to get some use out of the car.
I've checked the fit of rear panels and are a much better fit.
As you can see I'll need to remove front passenger side kick panel and remove some trim around the striker plate but happy that only a bit of daylight shows.

Looks like good work that will be a real credit to the Craft.
Attached some photos of job by yours truly with results not quite as good but may be improved when revisited
