convertible top: C to A

Post by Rod Letcher » Sun May 26, 2019 11:43 am

Well here's my 1st question. Will a convertible top from a TC fit the frame of a TA?

2nd question. I know the "bonnet" refers to what I would call the hood (USA reference).
What is the term "Hood" in reference to? The convertible top?

Yup, you got it, Wings are fenders, Boot is trunk, windscreen is windshield, so on and so forth, I think there is an old listing somewhere in the forum achieves on Brit to Yank terms and definitions.

Maybe someone will find it and repost...

Thanks Marv, that clears up a few wild guesses I've had.

Franz, Thanks for the input, I believe you are correct. The C was a bit wider.

The size and shape of the three rear tub rails are the same on a late TA, TB, and TC.
The windscreen size and location is the same on all three midgets.
The tub size variations n is the distance between the edge of the tub between the door hinges, and it isn’t 4 inches as reported in the press reviews of the TC era.
A TC top should fit a TA and TB.

Thanks Tom, That is encouraging. The car is currently in transit so I can't do any measuring. When it gets here I will measure some key distances on the badly worn existing top and maybe I can get someone with a "C" to varify those distances.

Just a heads up, this is the response from Moss Motors, I guess they would know.

"Marcel Sereboff :
Rod,

The top will absolutely not fit. The side curtains may fit but probably not cleanly. We cannot guarantee them for your application."
