Negative Ground GPS in Positive Ground TC

Post by lasloja » Wed Jul 03, 2019 1:21 pm

I want to have my GPS in the TC for some trips I am going on. So my question is how to accomplish this the best way. Can I hook the GPS directly to the battery and not go through the cars grounding system? Could this hurt the battery? Or do I get a jump start battery pack and run the negative ground GPS and Phone charger from the pack. Have any of you done that and how did it work. I do realize that I would have to recharge the pack every night. Open to suggestion and help. Thank you in advance.

I don't think there would be a problem by just using the Jacks on the center panel. The GPS shouldn't care if the car is positive ground. My guess is that the GPS is in a plastic case it will be isolated from grounding to the car and the only electric connections to it will be the two wires from the center panel.

Agreed, the ground of the car is irrelevant provided nothing metal on the GPS touches anything metal on the car. Just wire positive and negative to the appropriate leads on the GPS. Reversing them or grounding out will almost certainly fry the GPS and possibly blow a fuse.

I use this parts to connect the phone or Navi, doesn’t matter which ground you have.

You must only mount correct

we have to wait 1 or 2 years
then we get a 52 mm instrument
touchable as a smart watch
bluetooth connection to the phone in the jacket
you can change the background
one time a old classic style clock
next moment a modern gps navigation

that is what i would like
should be easy to realise for a supplier

the first thing like this i have seen on techno classica in essen
but too expensive and a bad design
here the right way, but to big
TOMTOM VIO Motoroller
i called them
i think big market
all young and classic cars,
but you need a controller for temperature and amp and so on
i have a smart home ( fhem ) with esp8266, great tool and really cheap, temp and switches no problem
Best Regards
Franz
