Hello
the last picture from Carl i have done it in other way
i think much easyer
i took only the guide pin with a little round placeholder, about 5 mm high so it is not so high
and not so shaky
then i press the guide pin in so that the end is 2 mm inside the bush,
in this position the guide pin stay still and doesn t come out
then i change and take the link to press it in
like this you don t need a press machine,
you can do it with a normal vice
Best Regards
Franz

Hello
wonderful weather in sprintime
so today first time to start the car,
taken off the air cleaner and put some starting spray in the carburettor
so the car starts with the first round of the starter

with some smoke from the exhaust i drove the car out the cellar garage at home
one round around the block

i will drive some more kilometers so the car is warm
then i will change all the oil in the engine the gearbox and the differential in the back

got enough oil last week, but never done it before and don t know exactly how much to fill in

i have xpag engine from TD so i looked to the workshop manual

how much oil i need for the gearbox = 1,25 pint = 710 ml SAE 90
how much for the differential in the back = 2,25 pint = 1280 m l SAE 90/b]

the overhauled old headlights are now also installed, I love them
The brake drums are now painted black, before they were silver, so the chrome of the wheels looks better

Franz-
Looking good. Always best to store a car with freshly changed engine oil in it. Change the oil one drive before it will be stored. Makes a big difference, in the long run. Same goes for other oils, and the coolant mix.

Actually, we urgently need a curfew here in Germany, but when I think of my TA in the garage, I cry
finally the sun and I can't drive

but as a doctor, I can make house calls in hazmat suits
looks funny

always making the best from the situation

Hello again,
last month a lot of work with my new old YA
My sidescreens have no chrome around the glas,
but it will cost more then 230 Euros, a lot of money for a shining part
so i looked aroud to find a cheaper way
i found stainless steel trims from an old Fiat 500 in a shop
cost is 13,50 Euro for two parts in 113,5 cm

they are a little bit wider then the original ones, but i can press it together a little bit
at the corner i will weld them, so it will be a low cost but wonderful alternative

Re: Rubber Shock Bushings. Just use a worm drive hose clamp to squeeze the rubber bushing, as if it was a piston ring compressor. Makes it easy as pie.

i never knew how beautiful the area we live in is
mostly you only drive over the highways to reach your destination quickly - offside it can be so beautiful
110 km around witten through the forests of the ennepetal ruhr district
the first and probably only organized trip this year
but i spend more time in the garage with mg ya, the wedding has to be before winter
Best Regards

lovely weather this morning
so we took the TA and visited some friends,
my wife and our dog loves to drive in the car
on the way back we bought some strawberries for coffee at home
some people look at the car and smile
cleaned the garage and fixed the riding mower that broke on Friday, terrible design as you can't get anywhere on it and have to bend your fingers

in the last 18 month no time for my TA ;-(
the reason is a big projekt coming in the next weeks to an end
next winter i will make the electric new, it is horrible, the colours of the wires are wrong, chaos behind the dash and so on
the new wonderful dashboard is hanging on the wall in my cellar
but i have made a lot of experience in printing parts, making inovativ hazard light circuit and some more

https://www.mgexp.com/forum/t-series-an ... 68/page-53

so i am still here ;-)

Post by Franz Tenbrock » Tue May 25, 2021 12:42 pm

the weather here in Germany is really bad this year
cold and rainy
two years ago we had many oldtimer meetings, last year and this year
nothing
and this bad weather.
I couldn't drive the car in February, the weather was nice.
but here in Germany we have to have a registration for every car
you have to pay, so most of us don't have a registration in winter and are not allowed to drive
so i am in my garage and work on my YA
also the TA is not at my home, so i have to drive to the garage to get the car
in futures when the YA is redy i can store both cars side by side in the garage
the next projekt is a Vespa 80 PX from 1980, is in the garage for 30 years,,,
my son started restoration,, i have to finish it
the vespa has only 5000 km on the speedometer.
have to paint it, look to the engine, new tires and some more.
Best Regards
Franz

bad weather this year here in my region
always cloudy and you don t know if it is raining hourse later
wanted to drive some days ago
test for today ;-)
but
when i drive back out of the garage i saw a wet stripe on the ground
open the bonnet and saw the desaster
the carburettor in the back has fuel overflow
open it and saw the float ball on the ground
had read some days before from the micro cracking
so i knew at once what happens
with some paper i took the fuel from the carburettor
took a stripe double side gluepaper and took it off the carburettor
shake it and feel a lot of fluid insidee
designed a float ball for my 3d printer
printed it in pla 23 gr,
took the cracked ball and drilled a little hole
empty the weight is 21,5 gr
the problem for pla is the heat under the bonnet
so no perfect idea, but for a short ride it should go
will put it in the car perhaps
orderd two nitril at moss in the bay, 19 pounds was a good price
but i have to wait 2 weeks to get it
so i had to found a different solution for today
i took the float ball from my YA , the car is still under restoration, but i have a date for TÜV on 17.08, first check after 22 month of restoration and xxxx hours of work
today the weather was cloudy but dry to the afternoon, so i took it in the morning , drove to the garage and installed it
than i got my wife and the dog and drove to the classic car meeting
i was a perfect day
and a icecream at the end
the car was running perfect, some weeks before i thought the engine is running a little bit rough
perhaps the first sign of a micro crack in the float ball
after 3 years with this car knowing it better and better
and always good if you can solve the problems by yourself
one more what i can do now ;-)
