Re: Need an image of the felt pattern
Original installation by the factory was in three pieces. End pieces, left and right, are glued on first. Make a pattern using poster board for these. Front, back, and bottom are one long piece. Cut to width of the box, then install with glue. Use a board 1/4" x 3" x width of box to set sharp crease...

Re: Bulkhead Oil can?
"Would" is an interesting word to use in this. The answer is - it depends on a number of factors. The Nuffield Organization (MG's parent company) had a deal with Duckhams to market Duckham oil as NOL brand through the company in all Nuffield makes. Nuffield made quite a bit of money in this deal - a...

Re: Gearshift snug placement
It sits on top of the chrome cover but underneath the rubber gearbox cover. Most repro gearbox covers are shaped differently than original in this location and the rubber donut frequently pops out. Judicious fitting, trimming of the gearbox cover, and testing can result in a good fit so the donut ac...

Re: TC DASHBOARD COLOUR
Iain, dash was originally walnut veneer. Two pieces of book matched veneer with a joint in the center. Clear finish, at that time probably a couple coats of lacquer. Walnut starts as a brown wood with a hint of purplish red when first cut, then changes to a rich brown over time with exposure to dayl...

Re: Oil Filler Cap Chain
Here's more info than you ever wanted! This is what I've found in my research - all backed up with documentation. First, TCs never came from the factory with a chain attached. Second, the majority of early TCs came with a plain, non-lettered chrome plated steel cap. Only when MG was forced to follow...

Re: damper cap
I ran into the same problem on TC0273. Solved it by putting a bit of Loctite on the threads after cleaning them. Just enough to create some additional "unscrewing resistance."

Re: Torque Values
Dave, as a general rule I follow both what the MG specs are in combination with modern ISO specifications. More times than not they are comparable. So for an 8mm bolt dry is 19 ft pounds; a 10mm bolt 37 ft pounds. Preferred method (I believe) is lubricated with a light oil - the values are then high...

Re: tc window pockets
Nope Dick, original side curtains did not have pockets in them. Lower section of the front curtains had a 1/8" wire frame sewn inside to help with rigidity of the panel.

Pushrods and valve train geometry
I am putting one of Len Fanelli's cam and roller lifter setups in an XPAG and think I have misunderstood Len's directions on pushrod length. Can the experts help me clarify info? I think the valve train geometry is important and pushrod length affects this. Len sent a new set of nice pushrods that n...

Wing Piping Color on Sequoia Cream and Clipper Blue
On Sequoia Cream and Clipper Blue TCs – what color was the piping on the wing and front splash apron areas?
Typically I believe this was body color on red, green, and black cars, but never paid attention to the other two colors.

Re: Original Door Panels needed
Steve, photos won't help with what's needed right now. My next step will require originals to be disassembled (untacked, untied, unstitched, unsewn, unfolded, etc.).
It's a project worthy of donation, and the results will be of benefit to all - just like Doug Pelton has done for us.

Original Door Panels needed
In the midst of my research work for the forthcoming book about our T cars, I need original interior door panels from TCs (actually, all T cars, though TC is most important) to dissect and study. Panels have to be original with the pocket on them. Usable condition isn’t real important. Green and Red...

XPAG plumbing for heater
I would like some input on plumbing for a heater connection to an XPAG engine. Hot water source will be tapped from the water outlet - the piece attached to the front of the cylinder head that the thermostat sits on. Water flow needs to be maximized - in the proper direction - to the heater from thi...

TF1500 for sale
I’ve been made aware of a two owner TF1500 that’s for sale in California that will likely sell quickly. From the few photos I have it appears to be solid, mostly original and in okay condition. Red – probably repainted once in its lifetime, replacement vinyl seats and interior panels, fuel tank repa...

All TC interiors were manufactured at Morris Bodies Branch in Coventry, the same place the tubs were manufactured. There ...

I have copies of some of these records. Give me as much info about the source of your info - from the photo it looks like a scrap of paper. Where did the paper come from? If in the car, exactly where?
