Re: TC wing piping question.
Stephen. I have tried to keep what is good about the TC but where the passage of time and experience has shown where things could have been done better, I have drawn a line.. I have tended to adopted what others have found to work in practice. Having said that, although I have no particular deferenc...

Re: TC wing piping question.
I carried the front wing/running board piping through the gap to butt up with the rear wing piping. There didn't seem to be a very tidy alternative..... That's what I thought. It seems like a design oversight. In fact all that area with an ugly gap between the wing and the running board seems to ha...

Re: TC wing piping question.
Not the piping. The paintwork is so reflective I thought it might have been a chrome finish.stephen stierman wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 11:34 amRay, if you mean does the piping have a chrome wrap finish? Absolutely not, it is black, and you are seeing reflection.

It looks like there is a gap. Does that car have a chrome wrap finish?

Re: Thinking of adding this to my stable
I don't think I have seen brake drums silver painted before. They would originally have been black but I quite like the look.

TC wing piping question.
Please could someone explain (or post a photo ) of how the piping that goes along the running board finishes? There is a gap between the end of the board and the rear wing. Does the horizontal piping continue along the body and butt up against the vertical wing piping...or is there a break there? Th...

Re: Thinking of adding this to my stable
A minor detail perhaps but I think the petrol tank end plates should be painted body colour with just the perimeter rib chrome plated. ON the plus side, I do like the seats which look nice and original.

Re: Thinking of adding this to my stable
Wouldn't an XPAG engine have a ribbed sump?
I would need to re do the dashboard. I am not sure about the timber used but the piping looks like a hurried job. I would think it should have chrome beading to the perimeter.. Also the exhaust looks a bit home made.

Re: TCs. Fans of all (most) ages.
Here in the U.K,. auction houses are reporting that there is very little interest in cars from our period. It would seem that the older generation who once flew the flag for the pre 1960 era are passing away or simply getting too old. The younger buyers are, it would seem, more interested minis and ...

Re: Rear wing piping
Thank you guys!! I am so glad I asked what seemed a bit like a dumb question! NO, I am not a purist. If anything, I would probably be called a pragmatist. I like to consider all the different options and weigh up the advantages and disadvantages before making a decision. I am also nervous about weil...

Rear wing piping
Hello all. I am about to fit the rear wing piping. I presume this is nailed on? What is the best way of doing it please? (size and spacing of nails etc.).
Any advice so I get it right would be appreciated.
Thanks, Ray.

Re: Gap between windscreen and stanchions
I wonder if I somehow ended up with a TA or TB screen and if those are slightly narrower? Aaron That is what I was wondering. Sometimes parts get mixed up. I recently bought some 'used' TC running boards...only to find they were TD panels that had been cut down to fit a TC. Perhaps it would be easi...

Re: Gap between windscreen and stanchions
Hi Ray, ... so your thought about the scuttle top being wrong also crossed my mind but how could that be? I realize the variances in manufacture and the fact that the car could’ve had a crash at one point but the dash fits perfectly and it’s the right dash so doesn’t seem too likely. The scuttle to...

Re: Gap between windscreen and stanchions
It sounds to me that either the windscreen is too short (side to side) or the stanchions are wrong for the screen. Unless, of course the scuttle top is wrong. The usual complaint is that there is too big a gap under the stanchions but I think your problem is more difficult to resolve.

Re: TC Body number plate
On my '49 TC it was tacked across the two front vertical timbers that form part of the scuttle. Just to be clear, the outside of the front timber is painted body colour and has the metal bulkhead bolted to it. The plate is mounted sideways starting 8" down from the top of the vertical timber. Hope t...

Re: EXHOURST GASKET
What can sometimes be forgotten is that when these cars were made the quality of the steel used was inconsistent at best. Torque figures were seldom given.

Re: Ignition coil heating up
With the battery being over charged, while I agree adjusting the regulator could reduce it, I would first want to establish why it is at 15 and not 13.5 V. I suspect the high voltage readings are a symptom rather than the cause.
I do, of course, welcome correction... if I am wrong.
