Rear view mirrors.

Post by jddevel » Mon Jan 22, 2024 9:36 am

Frustrated by the high cost of mirrors to fit on my windscreen and as the vehicles are frequently used in Europe as well as on motorways etc. in the UK I decided to explore other possibilities with the following result. I order to test I purchased two mirrors from Bowers (https://www.bowerspartsonline.co.uk/cla ... iew-mirror). Total cost £63.80
Separating the parts first step was to thread the original shaft. Started with a 7mm die, then 6mm. Threaded 35mm. Second bent shaft (protect thread with nuts) This was necessary as when initially fitted it interfered with side screen. Finally by using a locking nut and washer each side the shaft was attached to the curved aperture which allows the windsceen to be lowered.

You can actually buy mirrors that do this, with the stock type head on them!

One of our club members did something similar as you, but put the mirrors in place of stanchion screws so that the windscreen could still be lowered.

That's the stock type bracket, which will mount in the factory holes on the RHD side. But it won't mount to the left without drilling

Aftermarket motorcycle mirrors often have stems like jd is talking about. If you are offended by prices on aftermarket mirrors marketed for TC's. look at a place like this and you will be really offended. This is just a random example of countless offerings in the "mirror" search. https://www.jpcycles.com/product/bikers ... d=10069870
