Spare wheel carrier

Post by Ray White » Wed Feb 14, 2024 4:29 am

I have seen the TC spare wheel carrier in body colour but also in black (as chassis). Which would it have been originally please?

Anders Clausager says body color is correct, in Original MG T Series pg23.
It makes sense, as a black one seen through the wheel spokes would clash with fuel tanks in any other color.
Same with tank straps, body color.

Thanks Rob. I have done the tank and straps so now Just the spare wheel holder in body colour to complete the back of the car.

I have had to order a new spinner assembly. It is fortunate that we can get such things for our cars but they are expensive!

Just one more thing. The spare wheel carrier is body colour... but what about the clamps? The rear cross member is presumably black... so are the clamps also black or are they body colour?

I would say body color, but my car was originally grey, repainted cream in the 1950s, so I'm open to correction.
BTW, what part of the world are you in?

Brackets were originally black.

Thanks for that, Tom.

Rob. I am about 3 miles from Derby; a city in the Easy Midlands of England.

Cheers,

Ray.
