Paint Question

Post by robj » Wed Mar 27, 2024 2:42 pm

Although somewhat far from paint, I try to think ahead.

I notice pretty much everyone paints the tub frame a nice shiny or satin black. Doesn't that end up covered with body color when the tub is painted?
And the diff cover and diff ramp, same question. Or are they removed when painting the body?

Thanks,
robj

I paint my timbers with a nice thick coat of oil-based paint to add some attempt at preserving them from rot. Prior to this some wood preservative and urethane. And of course, you are correct they are covered either with sheet metal or trim and really aren't visible for the most part. When I spray the body tub, I really don't bother to mask off although some do, depending on your degree of OCD.
