Is this a TA, TB or TC body tub?

Post by choc-ice » Thu Apr 04, 2024 6:59 am

This is for sale on eBay, the seller thinks it’s a TA but I’m hoping it’s a TC. Is there a way to be sure? There’s no bulkhead so no ID as far as I know.

Tough to say. By the looks of the fuel tank width and the running boards look fairly narrow (although totally incorrect) so I would guess TC. Measuring it would be the only way to know for sure unless someone sees something I missed. Strange cutout at the front of the bonnet also

The dashboard also is not original.
Are there any fenders? (wings)
Is there a picture from behind?

Here is an early TA with the wide fuel tank. (ignore the extra tail lights)

Here is a later TA with the narrower fuel tank.

Mine is one of the first of the later TAs and measures 45" across at the hips.

Another clue may be the bulge on the left bonnet.
Was it higher or lower down on the TC?

Edit: found it in Clausager; it was higher on TA, lower down on TB/TC.
This is my TA.

Thanks, both. I agree that the completely different dashboard and the weird cut on the bonnet close to the radiator cap are signs this shell has had an eventful life!

Thanks for the measurement, is it correct that the TC tub was wider than the TA and TB?

There are no wings with the car, this is a picture from the rear.

This is the only picture, looks to be about half way up the louvres?

I am inclined towards it being TC - defo narrow tank and i think TA doors had more of an up-sweep to the top edge. Would need to see TA/Tb and TC together to be sure.
