a new toy needs my attention ;-)
I work in Dortmund and have no place to park, so I take a motorbike to get there
i have a BMW650CS, but when it rains i get all the rain
so I bought a BMW75RT, an old police motorbike
the last owner didn't clean it for 10 years,
the electric windscreen didn't work anymore the tyres were old and worn out
now the windshild runs as new the bike is cleaned and the wheels are off for new tires
and my TA runs perfect ready for the season
sold my 2 smart roadster coupe also yesterday,
so a realy good weekend

Hi
my BMW k75rt runs good now
sold two smart roadster coupes
my homeasssitant smart home works better and better
plants in the garden are cut
so some time to make other things
today my son wants to make some pictures with the MGs
so we took the cars out of the city for a littel photo shooting

Shitty weather today
i took the hardtop off to do the last things
rear wood on wood so some noise when i drive on a bad road
i still had some black felt in the cellar which i have now stuck on with double sided tape
now it should be quiet
and just made a copy of all the sides i have written here, all the pictures
now in one word document, so if the side broke down i have my own secured document with all the pictures,
perhaps some day important
it is a 52 mb file

first classic car weeekend this year for my cars
38. Highland Games in Einbeck
location
PS Speicher Einbeck
234 km with the trailer to reach the destination
raining the hole time
but when we reached Einbeck the rain stops slowly
we got a good home for the TA, all other cars outside
saturday we had about 160 km with our cars through a wonderful part of Germany
up and down right and left
about 120 km until lunch in Söhrer Forsthaus
https://www.einbeck-tourismus.de/tour/oldtimer-ausfahrt
the sun comes up
back to einbeck after a soup
the next 15 km was the best from the trip
my TY and Ya have been the eldest cars in the round
but both done it without a problem
back now after a wonderful weekend
on the way back we could see some snow at the top of the hills, funny
not seen so much snow this winter

Franz,
Due to the finger grips and shiny finish of the Brooklands wheel the cord tends to slip and the rim shows. Some have wrapped the rim first with cloth tape of similar colour to the cord for more friction.
Natural hemp is often used, about 2 mm.
For the length try a practice with similar diameter of regular cord over 50 mm section and see how much cord you use. Then calculate the entire length needed by measuring the circumference of the rim.
We know you will show us your handywork.

"We know you will show us your handywork."
should i do it
you want to see it ;-)
ok frist some other picture
my wife has an artist who made some pictures from my cars
TA spartan and YA
today i put it in the entry of our house
looks great
the artist s name is potpinsel
we live here in the pot
coal pot was it s name in the past
all around the steering wheel is 135 cm
once around is about 7 cm
so if i take a 2mm rope
(5x7 x 135)/100 = 47,5 m
for 1,5mm
(7x7x135)/100= 66,15 m
should i do it

Today I received the rope my son ordered yesterday
but a small mistake
I wanted 2x 100 m 3mm rope natural
but I got 1x 200 m 3mm rope natural
so I can't do the diamond
so I made the simple version
on
at the beginning I sometimes got knotted
it took me 2 hours
the result is quite good I think
I will see if I can do something about the 4 bars

after I made the rim yesterday, I made the bars today
tried some different knots
you will find the knots under paracord knots and paracord knots steering wheel
the diamond was ok, but the end of the rope from the beginning was a bit too short, so I went for a simple crossing, as you can see in the picture
quick and easy
the crossing is not as stable as the diamond knot but at this point it is enough
it's a pity that it was actually much too quick,
I will now test the steering wheel in my car and see what I do with the steering wheel that is currently in the car,
maybe I'll take the winding off and make a diamond, it just looks a bit better
and the 3 mm rope has a better grip then the 2mm
you can order it ;-) but more fun to make it yourself

Hello
here is my second steering wheel
this time with a different rope and a different technique
it was much more difficult because you have two ropes
and then some crossings on the back that you can't see
always confusion in my head,
what is the right way now
so there are a few little mistakes here and there but I don't mind
I will use it, test the feeling and some more
learned a lo, perhaps i make it new next winter
took me about 4 hours

Re: MG TA1932 in Germany - Blog - all problems and ...
such a beautiful day
every summer we drove the MSC Bork rally with our cars
my son with the Spartan is missing this year, wedding planning ;-)
my wife with the Ya and here friends Sonja and Martina
me with Sonja's husband Detlef
the weather forecast was not so good for a summer day,
rain showers were to be expected again and again
we were lucky
2 short showers before the lunch break, a tree gave us shelter to close the roof quickly,
too bad
riding open is simply more fun,
We rode through the Münsterland, past Nordkirchen Castle, through town centres with lots of spectators despite the bad weather,
the start was at 9 a.m., the finish at 3 p.m., short stopover with lunch
105 km over small roads
simply beautiful

Hi
i am silly
got the next MG yesterday
a
MGA from 1958
so now
TA 1937
Ya 1948
A 1958
good for the TA, because the car is running realy good and inside all ok so no really important work to do
i was thinkinng of a different interior, but it is ok and i don t need a new one
would be silly to make a new interior
but i like to work with this old cars
so my attention next winter will be the MGA in my garage
the car came from california 30 years ago, 6 years on the road in gearmany
then stored dry and waiting for restoration
you will find the restoration story here

a little more work
we had a wonderful weekend in the Eifel
every year a big pre-war event takes place in Nideggen
Eifel round trip 1922
https://www.eifelrundfahrt1922.de/
it was the best event last year and also this year
about 90 km uphill and downhill and in the afternoon another 31 km around the hills
simply marvellous
the TA runs perfectly and without any problems
we had so much fun last year that we decided to stay another day or two in this wonderful region of Germany,
at the end of the day i was the winner of my class and got the parts as you see them
better than a golden trophy

Re: MG TA1932 in Germany - Blog - all problems and ...
After a wonderful evening drinking to victory, we went to dinner.
we wanted to go to Aachen
my wife's sister lives there and so does my uncle Franz
so I prepared the route with Google to see more of this wonderful region
we had such a wonderful journey
but then we saw a castle in Stolberg, so we decided to look for it
I turned left but there was work being done on the road and we couldn't reach the castle
so I had to turn the car round.
I didn't see the hump in the middle of the road, I just realised that it went up a bit and then down
Suddenly an unpleasant noise
Metal on stone
I couldn't stop there, so I drove on,
shortly afterwards a red light
an admirer of the car said the TA was oily
I drove a few metres further to the side of the road and saw the problem
It was the brake master cylinder, which was dripping
I was able to squeeze the edge with a pair of pliers so that only very, very little was dripping,
We then drove very carefully with the handbrake to my uncle's house
There we parked the car in the garage and were able to drive back in a Toyota MR2 convertible.
I never had a problem with watery eyes with the TA, but now they burn after the journey
the wind protection in the TA is much more pleasant than in the Toyota or the BMW Z4 I used to have
so I have to think about what I can do
is it possible to repair it again, it just needs to hold the liquid, there is no pressure
i have this special aluminium solder i soldered the windows with
a Coca Cola aluminium can or a beer can has almost the exact dimensions
can I put that over it and then seal it with the solder
you can buy a new brake cylinder, but they have become much more expensive, formerly 180 Euro now 350 Euro
does anyone have any ideas
but it was such a nice weekend that this is easy to cope with

looks horrible,
and after i look in the web for the price of a new one
grrr
before 190 now minimum 350 without taxlooks terrible,
and after searching the internet for the price of a new one
grrr
before 190 now at least 350 without tax
with shipping to Germany about 500
let's have a look at the damaged master cylinder
you can see where it is hit on the stone and where material was planed away
it dripped every few seconds
so the part was unusable
with shipping to Germany about 500

Re: MG TA1932 in Germany - Blog - all problems and ...
we drove home in the morning, at home I drove the TA into the cellar
I used the handbrake to stop the car
with my scissor lift it was easy to remove the master cylinder in a few minutes
I took some pictures and examined the damaged MBC
first I took a piece of wood and cut a 65mm round hole in it
this was to serve as a counterpart so that the outer edge had a boundary
then I took a tool from my bending machine, 60mm round and 2cm thick
with a hammer I brought the edge at this point back into its correct position
That was quite easy
but now it became more difficult
the inner edge of the base was rolled inwards at this point
as you can see in the picture, I then carefully lifted it up step by step with a chisel
then straightened the edge again as in the first part
